Cardinal Says He Confronted Obama on Abortion, Health Care at Kennedy Funeral
by Steven Ertelt
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Cardinal Sean O'Malley, the Catholic bishop of Boston, has drawn fire from pro-life Catholics for attending the funeral of the late pro-abortion Sen. Ted Kennedy. O'Malley says he did so with a purpose -- to confront President Barack Obama about abortion funding in the government-run health care bills. (Ahh... so THAT'S why you allowed the most pro-infanticide president EVER to speak from a Catholic pulpit. I understand now.)
“I had the opportunity to speak briefly with President Obama, to welcome him to the Basilica and to share with him that the bishops of the Catholic Church are anxious to support a plan for universal health care," he writes. (Yeah, he's in your basilica. To pay homage to a fellow scumbag politician who delighted in shitting all over the Catholic Church. But you have no problems inviting that sack of shit... just so you can "speak briefly" with him? Do me a favor, don't shit on my shoes, then call it a spit-shine.)
O'Malley says he warned Obama that "we not support a plan that will include a provision for abortion or could open the way to abortions in the future." ("Warned"? F*****g PLEASE! One only "warns" from a position of power, not from that more akin to a jellyfish. And a freshly bitch-slapped jellyfish at that.)
"The President was gracious in the short time we spoke, he listened intently to what I was saying," the bishop writes. (Bullshit. What f*****g planet are you on "Your Eminence"? obama could have given a shit less what you have to say. But that's OK. He just bitched you out in your own basilica. Keep smiling, Seánie.)
Obama has come under fire for saying that pro-life advocates are lying about the inclusion of abortion funding in the government health care bills. (And The Zero cares about as much for their opinion as he does the Cardinal of Boston. But what the fornicate, over... he's the SuperPope of the Patriotic American Catholic Church. And Cdl. Sean O'Malley's his simpering bitch.) And I don't want to hear shit from anyone about how I was "so wrong to say all those mean things about a Prince of the Church". When the Ordinary of the Archdiocese of Boston finally has his ecclesiastical testicles drop, the day he actually has the balls to defend HIS BRIDE... then I'll have an iota of respect for him.
In the meantime, he rates nothing from me but my absolute and utter contempt.

Just as I have posted in the past, they are more politicians than priests.
spit shine
Don't you mean . . . ah . . . er . . . (you know!) *s-eating grin* ?
Vir,
Totally agree with your summation. And lest we forget, he ignored his own diocese's rules for a Catholic funeral and burial.
Cardinal O'Malley is apparently from the Fr. Jenkins school of confrontation. Kiss Obama's backside by giving him an honor he doesn't deserve, then say something in passing that you know damn well he won't pay any attention to. Only a fool would think Obama would pay attention. Remember Obama told a bold faced lie to the pope when he said he would work to reduce abortions while doing everything he could to increase them.
But this is also typical O'Malley. He is probably still POed because he was forced to have the Archdiocesan run insurance plan back out of a lucrative state contract due to abortion being included.
PS Given the huge vocal criticism for anything that even reeks of the public option from a few Bishops, O'Malley has basicly told a lie (anyione surprized???)
Imagine this scene rather than the with John the Baptist and Herod and his bitch wife and daughter. Herod married his brothers wife, Kennedy was the Senator most responsible for abortion continuing to be legal for 40 years and 50 million deaths, but who cares about this when you can be a celebrity at an event like this. Kennedy of course had another prince of the church at the burial site croaking lies.
And the other thing to talk about is it is not just abortion as the only issue with this government takeover of healthcare asshole. It is also about driving our country to poverty and beyond and about taking care away from seniors at the same time. It is about taking trillions out of the economy when we have national unemployment of almost 10% with twice that in some areas of the country. If the bishops end up supporting this government grab, I hope every catholic who gave the church a dime in the last decade will deduct the increased costs of healthcare from their next donation and let the church pay for this blunder.
Folks, I know most of you think this is a battle for America, but really it is not. It is a battle for the throne of this world. The American spirit and the Catholic faith have before our time worked in concert to guard against the rise of evil. Evil has taken the gloves off and is subverting both from within. In the minds of these evil ones God represents slavery. They do not want to be held to a standard and they want to take as they wish without consequence. It is the age old battle of the enlightened thinking that they know better than God, and therefore will not be hampered by his Word.
Why did His Eminence feel the need to use the
Senator's funeral as the venue to bend the
President's ear about healthcare? Was it because
the White House couldn't be bothered to return
his phone calls? Can it be that a few seconds of
face time snatched at a funeral is all the Cardinal
Archbishop of Boston rates?
If the topic of health care is so important, and the
President is so interested in His Eminence's views,
then shouldn't they, well, MEET?
Oh, I see, the President isn't THAT interested.
If His Eminence is going to be publicly demonstrated to be a naive chump and a fool, I
hope he at least got a thrill up his leg for his
trouble.
Hmm. While I obviously disapprove of Cardinal Sean's actions, I'm hesitant to assume the worst about his motivations. Unlike Cardinal Mahoney, Archbishop Weakland or other false prelates, Cardinal Sean has a good record. I think we should be more charitable towards his person. There is a time to wield the whip and turn over tables and a time for forgiveness. I think we should follow our Lord's example here and practice that instead of judgement and condemnation. Let God judge him. We should hold off unless Cardinal Sean engages in a persistent pattern of such behavior.
I think that this commentary is worth your attention, Cavey.
The poster points out that +Cdl O'Malley did not preside, and was not even a concelebrant. Further, the parish in question is under obedience to the Redemptorists, not the Archdiocese. Basically, like D'Arcy with Notre Dame, the only thing he can command them to do is this: "Pack up, move out and sell it."
Assuming that the entire contents of Pope's letter have been released, then I would suspect that Sen. Kennedy was given a verbal message from the Pope or other authorized representative either through Sen. Kennedy's confessor or perhaps Card. Egan or even Card. O'Malley informing the Senator that he must repent of his position on abortion, etc., to be saved. Any priest owes a penitent or anyone in danger of death of this information.
As far as public recantation, I would normally have expected this to have been required of Sen. Kennedy, but I am not theologian enough to state this conclusively. It would seem to me that this would have been an expected prerequisite to a public funeral. Hence, the scandal that I/we witnessed in the Mission Church.
Even if the Church is run by Redemptorists or Jesuits, a public church in a (arch)diocese requires the (arch)diocesan Ordinary to authorize and approve of the liturgies and sacraments practiced therein. Or so I perceive. IOW, I think Cardinal O'Malley is on the hood for that funeral.
ATI,
"Preside" or not, his mere presence at this obomination speaks volums.
Ursus,
So if hitler had rcv's a Catholic funeral... you would have been fine with that, 'eh?
But then again, you probably have no problem with luther, henry VIII or zwingli
Ursus,
repentance is required. Even God cannot forgive the unrepentant.
Can we say, for absolute certain, that Ted Kennedy died unrepentant? No, we cannot. That is something only God knows. But we can say, for certain, that he made no visible, public attempt to repudiate or even distance himself from his over 30 years of vocal, public, political, formal cooperation with grave evil.
ATI,
Well said!!
*standing and applauding!*
