Is It Possible To Be A Stooge's Stooge?
In a word - yes
Joe of St. Thérèse coined quite an appropriate term for the The South-Side Stooge's move to become the de facto leader of the Catholic Church in this country: The American Patriotic Catholic Church.
And a member of the Chicago Curia speaks from on high. The Prefect of the Congregation for Propagation of the Cult, High Poobah Douglas Kmiec gives lessons in Catholicism to the few members of the American hierarchy that actually defend The Church.
Here's some of the article from CNSNews.com (Emphasis mine) And no... this isn't a spoof from The Onion.
Catholic Obama Adviser Chides Archbishops for Not Taking a 'Catholic Approach' Toward Pro-Abort Politicians
(CNSNews.com) – A prominent Catholic academic and supporter of President Barack Obama says that Roman Catholic Archbishops Raymond Burke and Charles Chaput and Bishop Joseph Naumann did not take a "Catholic approach" when they insisted that prominent pro-abortion Catholic politicians should not take communion.
He also said bishops and priests who deny communion to pro-abortion Catholic politicians are engaging in “intimidation.”
“Let me tell you that to be separated from the body of Christ even once is intimidation,” said Douglas Kmiec, professor of constitutional law at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif.
Kmiec--a campaign advisor to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama in 2008--was barred from communion by a priest in California last year. Kmiec wrote a book, “Can a Catholic Vote for Him?” which promoted the idea that pro-life Catholics could support Obama, who supports legalized abortion, embryonic stem-cell research, and same-sex unions.
“But it is not just an isolated case of a mistaken priest who thankfully, with the discipline of the local archbishop (Cardinal Roger Mahony of Los Angeles), wrote a letter of apology, which of course, is accepted," said Kmiec, speaking of his own case, on a panel at the National Press Club last week. (Mahony --- 'nuff said.) Anyone who thinks Obama isn't making an orchestrated move to become the spiritual leader of this nation's Catholics, is a fool. And unlike the recent horseshit that just took place at Notre Damned, let's hope that more than 1/5 of the USCCB defend The Church. By the way, I tip my hat to the small percentage that actually did.
But if you're going to hold your breath waiting for something more substantial than balloon juice from The Silent Majority, remember, it was Catholic bishops that burned St. Joan of Arc at the stake.
But there's always hope. Pope St. Pius V, Ora Pro Nobis.

"The American Patriotic Catholic Church" - laugh-out-loud-funny! I'm going to use that.
You're right, of course, in saying that Obama wants to separate American Catholics from their bishops, and he's using "Catholic" colleges and academics like Kmiec to accomplish his goal.
Really, only the bishops can stop him. I wonder if they will.
Because it's not Catholic to save you from hell ;)
Some of those bishops are already, de facto, in the Obamanation camp. Luckily, a faithful remnant remains.
The gates of hell shall not prevail, but it might get rather ugly before it's all said and done.
A new low. And for Kmiec, that's pretty fucking low.
