How Will You Answer?
Your salvation isn't found in the Democratic Party Platform
I recently saw some generic talking-head 'Catholic For Obama' on TV. Of course, the Notre Shame scandal was brought up. When he was asked how he, a Catholic, could vote for a pro-abortion candidate, this knucklehead responded with the same "I'm not a one-issue voter" sneering claptrap.
You know, when I stand before God for my Final Judgment, I really don't think that He will ask me how I felt about AIG bail-outs... but I'm pretty sure He'll ask me if I favored His most vulnerable children being hacked to death in the womb.

I am not a one issue voter either. I go with the top three non negoiable issues from the Pope because in matters of faith and morals he is infaliable. Once I have the candidates narrowed on these points as who is best on them, if there is clearly one candidate, I do not need to go further. As long as the democrats keep these three things in a negative mode in their party and the republicans are positive in them, it makes the choice easy.
As far as the Catholic Church is concerned, the principal focus of her interventions in the public arena is the protection and promotion of the dignity of the person, and she is thereby consciously drawing particular attention to principles which are not negotiable. Among these the following emerge clearly today:
- protection of life in all its stages, from the first moment of conception until natural death;
- recognition and promotion of the natural structure of the family - as a union between a man and a woman based on marriage - and its defence from attempts to make it juridically equivalent to radically different forms of union which in reality harm it and contribute to its destabilization, obscuring its particular character and its irreplaceable social role;
- the protection of the right of parents to educate their children.
