Dictatorship Of The Child
What do you think will happen if a brat is enabled?
That's right, things will get worse... much worse.

It's with sadness that I read this article. For a brief, glorious moment, it looked as if there was the beginnings of a spine within the USCCB. Notice the dates of the below posted articles.

Fort Wayne-South Bend Bishop John D’Arcy, the ordinary of the diocese in which the University of Notre Dame is located, has again expressed his opposition to the University of Notre Dame’s decision to award President Barack Obama an honorary degree.
Bishop D’Arcy added that “he does not believe Notre Dame should suffer a penalty,” according to WNDU-TV.

The American Life League is calling for the University of Notre Dame to be removed from the official list of Catholic institutions after the university invited President Obama, an abortion-rights supporter, to give the commencement address.
The group, a Catholic pro-life organization, said in a statement Wednesday that removing the school from the Official Catholic Directory would cut Notre Dame off from a lot of Catholic foundation funding.
Bishop D'Arcy had the chance to put some teeth into his protest, but instead he chose to spare the rod and spoil the child. Or the brat as the case may be.
Just for the record... I'm thoroughly disgusted.

You didn't really think the USCCB was going to grow a pair did you? It's the USCCB...Why am I not surprised.
He's the local ordinary, he should be throwing the books at him. (I should totally appeal to the Pope to get me ordained ordinary of a diocese, won't happen, but hey, it's worth a shot)
Joe, miracles do happen, if Jesus could cure blindness & leprosy, which involves the regeneration of flesh, then He could cause the USCCB to "grow as pair". The assumptions 1: That they would even want to & @: that they would know what to do once they did.
As a Protestant, I'm thoroughly disgusted. My condolences for your once noble institution. May God restore it soon.
Thanks BFB
Please don't use those photos of children crying again. They are the product of a crazy woman who separated them from their mothers, stripped them naked and scared the living daylights out of them to make them cry so she could snap a photo. She is the same crazy woman who photoshopped shark's teeth and dripping blood onto a photo of McCain during the election.
The photographer is a disgrace, and her photos are evil.
Just FYI.
Oh, and did you expect anything more from the spineless bishop? Jesus warned us about this, and still we are surprised when it happens. Go figure.
TCN,
Thanks for the heads-up.
Rectified.
Sorry to be so cynical, but it is all too late to be this upset over Obama giving a speech at Notre Dame. It is too late to "punish" Notre Dame by designating formally that it is no longer a Catholic institution.
Why? Three little words:
FATHER RICHARD MCBRIEN
There is no longer a purpose to the USCCB if there has been one for years. If you publish something with rules and those who actually have to obey you as part of the Church with obedience tell you to go to hell and you do nothing, there is no longer a reason for you to live. So please just end the farce of the USCCB and all the money they spend and turn the ruling of the American Church over to the Pope. He can appoint a watchdog with teeth and end the farce.
Why should a so called catholic politician who supports baby killing think there is any consequences to his actions or any other dissenter. They bring this on themselves and then do nothing about the results.
As far as I can tell, except for a handfull of bishops, the rest have been a severe drain on Catholic faith and His Church for decades which has cost the Church billions of dollars and loss of moral voice.
Frankly, I think that the greatest failing of the last four popes in their unwillingness to call the bishops and cardinals from the US to Rome and if they do not repent, admit their error publically, bare their backs and flog themselves down fifth avenue in NY, and never do it again they should be fired.
Greta, your last paragraph is understandable ... except for the way it casts doubt upon the Sacrament of Holy Orders.
It is (or should be) as hard to un-Ordain somebody as it is to un-Baptize them. Suspend them, yes. Forbid them from the sacraments, yes. But you cannot expect the Pope or anyone else to undo sacramental grace.
