My First Ever Pro-French Posting ...Well, Sort Of

Interesting article from Reuters. Here's some of it; (Emphasis and comments mine)
Pope protesters, supporters clash in France
(Reuters) - Far-right youths clashed with left-wing activists who had gathered outside Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris on Sunday to protest against Pope Benedict's opposition to condoms, a police source said.
About 30 ecologists and Communists threw condoms on the ground outside the cathedral, where worshippers were leaving Sunday mass. (What, no arrests for hate crimes against Catholics? I wonder if the Lefties had pulled this shit at a mosque, would there have been a different outcome? I can't help but think that the Gendarmes would have nervously smiled and looked the other way while the Lefties were beheaded.)
One person was injured and three were arrested after clashes between the protesters and about 20 youths who the police source said were associated with the far-right and who were carrying placards saying "Leave my Pope alone". (Ahhh... anyone who has the bad manners to supports the Pope is now "far-right". Nice job of objective reporting, Reuters.)
Benedict said in Africa on Tuesday that the use of condoms was complicating the fight against AIDS, reaffirming the Roman Catholic Church's opposition to condoms.
The comments were criticised by French politicians from all parties. (Funnny how Reuters makes no mention of French politicians who defended The Holy Father. Amazing, huh?)
The pope's comments came ahead of an AIDS action weekend in France. AIDS-awareness activists Act Up-Paris also organised a "die-in" outside Notre-Dame on Sunday. They carried portraits of the pontiff accompanied by the slogan "Benoit XVI Assasin."
"By refusing to allow the promotion of condoms, the Catholic Church has millions of deaths on its conscience," Act Up-Paris said in a statement. (Of course, Reuters fails to mention that Act Up-Paris is one of that nation's more militantly pro-homosexual, anti-Catholic organizations. Yet again, amazing, huh?)
Human Rights Minister Rama Yade said she was "dumbfounded" by the pope's comments. Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner called them "the opposite of tolerance and understanding". (And as I cited a few paragraphs above, no mention from Reuters concerning a French politician who commented "the French political class," which has carried out a veritable "witch hunt" against the Pontiff."
France is traditionally a Catholic country, although less than 10 percent of the population attend Sunday mass. But about 200,000 people turned out for an open-air service in Paris last year when the pope visited the country. (200 grand? Not bad for a place where so very few even attend Mass... supposedly.)

6 Comments:
Act Up is the same militant organization that disrupted mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral, received communion, and spat the Eucharist onto the street in 1989.
Jesus told us it would get rough. What can we do if people choose to march lockstep into hell? The Light came into the world but the people preferred darkness because their deeds were evil. That free will stuff is dangerous, and some people never do open their eyes and see the Light.
Caveman - the fruity French are not my favorite either. But recall that The Lord of History sent down the great St. Jean Vianney, the Cure d'Ars, around the time of the French Revolution - responsible for many conversions. Since the West has been in effective revolution since the 1960s, as instigated by the Vulgar Radical Left, let's hope that Our Lord has something else in the works for the poor frogs. Whenever it comes, it will (hopefully) convert the presently existing frolicking fruitcakes into a force of the formidably faithful.

My response: "By refusing to allow the promotion of condoms or homosexual activity, the Catholic Church has done its best to help people avoid hell. If these people (ACT-UP etc) ignore God's laws then they have their deaths, physical & spiritual, on their own hands, not the Church's."
Sacré Coeur de Jesus, salut et espoir de la France, sauvez la fille ainée de l'église!!
Vive la monarchie française!
Vive la France Catholique!
Sainte Mère de Dieu, priez pour nous!
