British Cardinal Publicly Condemns Pope
"Fresh Breeze" report
Here's some of the article from The Telegraph (of London); (Emphasis mine)Cardinal condemns Pope over lifting of excommunication on Holocaust denier The leader of the Roman Catholic church in England and Wales has taken the unprecedented step of condemning the Pope over his decision to lift the excommunication of a British bishop who denied the Holocaust.
The intervention of Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor will intensify the worldwide uproar triggered by the Pope's decision to lift the ban on Bishop Richard Williamson who has questioned the killing of six millions Jews by the Nazis.
The Cardinal, in a letter to Dr Jonathan Sacks the Chief Rabbi, a copy of which has been released to The Daily Telegraph, expressed his deep regret at the effect of the Vatican decree which has already been criticised by Angela Merkel the German Chancellor.
The Cardinal, in his letter, said: "I am writing to express my dismay at the effect of the Vatican decree..." I think Vetus Melius Est said it best when he quoted the following; "...Now that the dignitaries of the Church must abide by the Pope on a difficult matter we will see what sort of example they set." Murphy-O'Connor-Hienz-Kerry-Rodham-Clinton, or whatever his name is, has left no doubt as to how deep his loyalties are to The Holy Father.

My first thoughts on this may have caused me to need confession, are we allowed to call a Cardinal an A____?
Isn't that Roman Protestant on the cusp of mandatory retirement? Let him keep pushing His Holiness...it may encourage the Holy Father to pick a real conservative as his replacement instead of some Murphy-O'Connor's eunuch clones who are being pushed for the job.
The "Magick Circle" of liberal British prelates day's are numbered, and they know it.
Das Panzer Papa will deal with this, as he does everything else, well, and IAW the Faith Recieved From The Apostles.
Let them keep speaking up, I want everyone of these closet protestants identified and rooted out. Sign your resignation sheet nimrods!
Another one bites the dust, Hey Hey!

The floor to hell is paved with the skulls of bishops, and now we know which ones.
Sorry about that afterlife thing, mate.
Altar Boy,
In answer to your question, he is, past it actually.
The problem is, the 1st choice to take over said no. Dom Hugh Gilbert (who from all I read is solidly orthodox in his Catholicism) had to turn the Pope down because a key aid left the abbey for a woman. He felt it was better if he stayed there & dealt with damage done.
Not surprizingly Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor was POed that he couldn't step down.
I am willing to bet he is lashing out under this guise to get back at the Pope for actually doing the right thing. In his mind Williamson's comments provided the opportunity for the Cardinal to attack the Pope for uphold orthodoxy & showing how the Cardinal falls far short of where he should be.
The Cardinal is probably also throwing a hissy-fit because the Pope didn't force Dom High to take over so he could leave what he sees as a job he is tired of doing.
Looks like its time for an English style excommunication or (or court martial equivalent)
I prefer this model:

Instead of being vociferous about the daily on-going abuses within the Church and clergy, and trying to correct what has gone wrong, and the list is just too many, they squeel about something they think will make or keep them in "good-standing" with their liberal counterparts. Nevermind what the Pope wants and is trying to do. Those who have given Our Lord out guring Communion into the hands of the public, will have to suffer! And that is only ONE abuse among many, many more!
The Cardinal is also POd b/c B-16 is ignoring the Cardinal's "first pick" for successor...
