I've been exchanging e-mails with one of my old Commanding Officers who is now an Evangelical preacher. I thought some of you might enjoy my reply to one of his questions to me --
I can't really make any honest commentary in regards concerning the feminization of Evangelical Protestantism. Obviously, I can only speak from the Catholic perspective. And what a Can o' Rant you just open.
Since the late 60's, I've witness a definite feminization of everything Catholic (in the US, anyhow). And I just don't mean the flaming homosexuals half a chromosome away from lactating, who've managed to get themselves ordained (all in the name of inclusion and "Jesus accepts me just the way I am" bullshit) and fluttered 'n flitterd hither and yon spreading equal amounts of pixie dust and heretical bullshit. BTW, thank God His Holiness Pope Benedict shitcanned a number of uber-liberal seminary rectors here in America. Funny how the MSM never really picked up on that story.
Anyhow, neither am I referring to the images of "Surfer Jesus" or Jesus portrayed essentially as some prissy chick with a beard.
I mean the radical feminization of Catholicism as in the lack of masculinity. I look upon radical theological/ecclesiastical feminism as the attitude of: "Oh, you have a boo-boo. It doesn't matter to me how you got it or if you'll stop acting out in a way that caused the injury to begin with. I'll just kiss it and make it all better."
I'm of the opinion that radical feminism is all-forgiving, as Christianity most certainly is, but regardless of the circumstances and treats ALL the Faithful (especially those who've reached the age of reason) intellectually as children, if not outright dullards. Must be that "nurturing of kids" thingee that's ingrained in all chicks.
With that said, I consider theological/ecclesiastical masculinity as the attitude of: "Screwed-up and got a boo-boo, huh? OK, cupcake... here's what you need to do - quit your damn whining and man-up. Things really will be all better, I'll see to that. But in the meantime, rub some dirt on it and take another lap."
For me, the words of St. James (Faith without Works is dead) and St. Dismas, The Good Thief (This Man has done nothing wrong, but we are getting what we deserve) sum it up pretty good for me. Also, I only half jokingly thank God everyday of my fairly recent "discovery" of traditional, pre-Vatican II Catholicism. If I had to listen to one more Modernist sermon on "luv", I honestly thing I'd puke day-glo.

"puke day-glo" You really are a hoot.. I loved this and it's very true. As a woman, I am angry by what I've witnessed - not just in the Evangel churches, but many of the "progressive" Catholic ones. It's an issue of women not understanding God's intentions in creating man, woman, the Church, and the hierarchy of authority.
I think this is why I enjoy the Latin Mass so much. No altar girls. No women rushing to the altar for false-humble recognition. I loathe it all. I come from a church where women did so much, but yet what it mostly cultivated was a yearning for "more." More recognition. More responsibilities. And overall, more public acknowledgement that they were important and needed.
You know what I tell Christian women? Look at the what women did around Jesus. They served Him. They didn't demand to be included as one of the Apostles. They ministered to Him from their own pockets and witnessed to others about Him when they could. As far as I'm concerned, that's who our role models are - not the womynpriests.
That's a whole can o' worms for me, too, my dear bro. Feminism has not only ruined women, but ruined our country. Families are at the core of our strength and if a woman is running around, feeling all put out because she's not noticed enough - then there's a good chance she's shortchanging our society.
Because after all, you know, it's all about her needs.
Speaking as the (possibly token) Protestant on the board-- I agree with you. All you have to do is look around your average Protestant church, and you see it--women outnumber the men 3-1 or higher, and you never see single men unless they're widowers. In the Episcopal church, the young men quit going to services sometime in high school or college, and don't come back until they're engaged or married. It makes it very difficult for churchgoing young women to find suitable young men.
As for me, I prefer hearing about a Jesus who was enough of a man to carry a cross.
I love to see all the burly he-men types holding hands at the Our Father. DO NOT TELL ME THEY REALLY WANT TO DO THAT!!!!!
One of my boy high school students last year asked in class why we hold hands at the Our Father. I told him the truth - it was not really called for, blah, blah, blah.
When I asked him why he asked he said "it was creepy". Exactly!!
My favorite thing to do is put my 1000 yard stare on the man who tries to hold my hand when I have no choice but to attend Mass at a liberalized Catholic "community"!
Almost without fail these candy asses will switch places with thier wives, children, old people, etc when they come back from receiving Jesus.
I carry my K-bar with me to Mass. Anyone trying to grab my hand for the Our Father will find himself chasing his hand as it bounces out the door. What is really disguisting is that older men are even more likely to do this as younger men. This is obviously the result of decades of ruthless hen-pecking and brow-beating from their stupid blue-haired wives (who are usually Eucharistic ministers) who seem to think that their primary role as wives is to suck all the masculinity out of their men, turning them into effete Johnny Milquetoasts.

Amen! Many years ago -- before I fled the "New Order" Mass -- I would just fold me hands and bow my head during the Our Father, simply ignoring the sheeps on either side who wanted to hold hands. BTW, would someone tell me where in the Vatican 2 documents it calls for hand holding? Must be right next to the part about the priest facing the people during Mass or Communion in the hand or removing the statues or Communion rails from church (none of which were ever promulgated by Rome).
Cavey: the only portion I take exception to is your comment that "radical feminism is all-forgiving."
I respectfully submit the following: No it's not.
The feminazis sure as hell weren't very forgiving toward Sarah Palin and her family. They don't forgive women who are pro-life, modest, or - egad! - sexually chaste or monogamous. In fact, they are very unforgiving toward those of us XY chromosome-bearers who tend to revel in, well, being FEMININE.
They only "forgive" you when you reject and/or learn to despise your God-given differences from men and, of course, your moral center.
FAB: I get glared-at when I don't offer up my hand for holding at the Our Father and fold them together instead....and forgive my unfeminine language, I don't give a shit! ;-)

There is a huge difference between your girl-friends and your husband and father. The fact that some "womyn" can't figure this out just goes to show that they haven't two brain cells to rub together. I know I want my husband to be a man, and a real one, too (he certainly is!).
These are the same women who inform me that boy babies and girl babies behave so differently, but swear on a stack of Bibles that there is no difference between men and women. Hoooey.
God is a Father, not a pansy, and Jesus is a Son, not a daughter. Get over it and get on with it.

That aside, the fact of ecclesiastical feminization just makes me sick. Priests have a moral obligation to their flock - dancing around the very real issues that confront parishioners every day does no good to anyone. The moral relativism that has arisen in Catholic parishes as of late is the blood on the hands of our priests. It gives me no comfort that they will one day be held accountable for their laxities.
Kevin, you have a real gift. You should write a book.
Ahhhh, but you Catholics are showing signs of getting over it! The Episcopal Organization (can't really call it a church anymore) has completely jumped the shark into irrelevance. So have a lot of the other mainline Protestant denominations. The Evangelicals are still hanging in, but I think their days are numbered.
In 100 years, there will be Catholics, Orthodox, a few splintered remains of Protestantism, and state-sponsored syncretism.
Where the hell did I put that damn Catechism of the Catholic Church? I need to start boning up...

I've noticed that, at the EF Mass in our parish, there are proportionally way more men present than at the NO Masses. It's the same at other EF Masses I've been to.
I really HATE all the touchy-feely stuff that passes for liturgy in so many places...
As for the "feminine" side of Jesus, ever notice how they omit to mention all the "bad, uncaring" stuff that's too difficult to make with the liberal agenda? You know, the stuff about hell, and being cast into the outer darkness where the flame shall not go out and their worm never die (or words to that effect), not to mention millstones and leading others into sin...
