So Now What?
A whole new set of questions come up

I know I'm not the only one who's wondered just how many will join with Bishop Williamson if and when he jumps ship. Personally, I give it even money he'll bolt. But that's not the $64,000 question right now.

Undoubtedly, there are a number of Modernist bishops who are now in desperate need of a change of DependĀ® adult undergarments. Especially those in France, Germany, The UK and America. And I can think of more than a few heterodox priests right here in the Cape Fear Deanery who are hissing (lisping?) through clenched teeth right about now.

With all that said, how many of our (for lack of a better phrase) "mainstream" clerics are about to launch their own versions of the Polish National Catholic Church, the Old-Catholics or even the Philippine Independent Catholic Church?

I wish to hell the likes of Roger "The Dodger" Mahony and Richard "I'm Not A Dick" Rohr would haul ass. Why not? They've been in de facto schism for decades. Goodbye, good luck, and don't let the door hit your collective sorry asses on the way out.

Something else to keep in mind, in the few short years of the pontificate of Pope Benedict XVI, he's freed the Latin Mass and (obviously) lifted the "excommunications" against the SSPX Bishops. By Catholic Church standards, Pope Benedict works at light speed.

By the way, did anyone else notice that the announcement came the day before the 50th anniversary of Pope John XXIII's announcement of the Second Vatican Council? Talk about shoving it in the faces of the Roman Protestants.

I love it.

If it weren't for the SSPX there would be no Latin Mass, (at least not how we've had it so far since VII. Thank you pope Benedict for your courage and insight!

Now figure out a way to have some sort of union with the Orthodox AND kick out all the liberal CINO's and you'd have a DAMN GOOD CHURCH!

Of course, there is still ongoing dialogue with Methodists, Lutherans and Anglicans. I say let them be and forget about 'em. They are a disaster. If you believe in nothing what is there to talk about?

I'm still proud to be Roman Catholic.

Carissimi viri speluncae,

Just to let you know the OLL rebellion which you so kindly mentioned a few weeks ago, has re-commenced, after a nice long respite.

James Daultry has boarded his B-29 and is sending sniper fire down at the DRVC in the form of a letter one of the priests of the diocese has written denouncing Bishop Murphy for his cover-up of the Blockley/Lisante affair, as well as his calumniation of the OLL rebels.

All in all, it's been a good day for those interested in fighting corruption in the official Church, as well as those seeking liberation in the gulags of the Rockville Centre Diocese.

Keep fighting the good fight. Arbp. Lefebrve would be proud.

Add to your list of nutless bushops John T. Steinbock of Fresno. Heir Steinbock was offered a priest for the diocese from the Fraternity of St. Peter. Of course he declined the offer but now cries about the lack of priests and we have clsoed parishes and parishes run by female lay administrators. There is a very active SSPX chapel in the diocese so is should be interesting to see how the coward in Fresno reacts. Oh, and of course he is a seminary classmate of none other than "red" Roger in Los Angeles.

Who wants trash like faux-archbishop Ricky back in the Roman Catholic Church? Ricky is nothing more than a small time, two-bit jew-hatin' bigot! He's nothing more than a liar and a fraud!

We often complain, and rightfully so, about abuses and heresies among leftists in the Catholic Church. Yet, some members of the SSPX have espoused heresies and political opinions as equally revolting as the worst limp-wristed liberation theology espousing priest. There are members of the SSPX who articulate misogynistic, antisemetic, and pro-fascist opinions. This concerns me greatly. We should temper our joy with concern about this. Let us hope that the Holy Spirit divides the wheat from the chaff, and the crazies go off and join Williamson, where they can be "Protestants with Latin" for all intensive purposes.

Yet, some members of the SSPX have espoused heresies... do you have any examples?

and political opinions as equally revolting as the worst limp-wristed liberation theology espousing priest... you're mixing apples and oranges. The problem with the Lib Theo gang is that they weakly attempted to infuse Communism with Catholicism. The same simply cannot be said that the SSPX is attempting the same, but with Fascism.

There are members of the SSPX who articulate misogynistic, antisemetic, and pro-fascist opinions... two things: the VAST majority of Catholics who assist at Mass at SSPX chapels could be classified as center-right, politically. A handful of reactionaries doesn't speak for the whole. Secondly, as I asked before, when were any of the far-rightists attempting to meld their personal opiniosn with solid Catholic teaching?

As much as I disagree with the historical accuracy of the beliefs of Bp Williamson, he doesn't deny that Jews were killed by the Nazis. He just happens to believe that the number was as high as 6 million, nor that the mass exterminations were a matter of national policy.

Soooo, if one believes that the number of Jews was inflated, does that mean that the person in question is "a small time, two-bit jew-hatin' bigot!"? Other than what I've stated above, can you give any examples of anti-Semitism? Any examples of Bp Williamson calling for the damnation of the Jews? Any examples of Bp Williamson demanding the beheading of Jews?

Bam, I can't help but wonder if you're this vocal and angry when it comes to the "Liberation Theology" Communists or heretical Neo-Arians within The Church.

Probably not.

I know it is difficult, but we need to remember that these "modernist" Bishops are the Arian equivalent in our day. & we know how successful the Arian Bishops were in the 4th Century. They didn't prevail back then, & these Modernists won't today.

But, when you love the Church, it is hard to see it have to go through these struggles.

As major step in the march to return the SSPX to full unity with the Church, this is good news indeed.

I can't wait to hear what my pastor (who routinely celebrates mass in the extraordinary form, as well as the ordinary form in both English and Latin) has to say about this news.

Well, if Bp. Williamson would take off and not take the fight to the modernists inside Rome, then who needs him?

First off, sorry to have not responded as quickly as usual. I'd be glad to clarify my initial response. I'm in total agreement that the majority of the members of SSPX are good, faithful Catholics, devoted to tradition and politically right-of-center. With regards to heresy, I should have specifically mentioned Sedevacantism, as certain members have flirted pretty openly with it. I remember reading some pretty crazy quotes, but I'm not finding them at the moment. The political issue can sometimes be a problem in America, as there are SSPX priests who have argued that America was founded by a masonic conspiracy. In France, its much more of an issue, as a good deal of SSPXers there idolize Marshal Petain and the Vichy Regime. I do not have a problem with their nostalgia for the monarchy and their distaste for the Revolution, which I think most Catholics should share to some extent. I'd love to see France return to its Catholic identity, but Vichy was never the way to go, as I think we can all agree. I would like to finally note that considering how an unfortunate amount of novus-ordo Catholics espouse heresy and troubling political opinions it might seem silly to point out the few who do so in the SSPX. All I'm saying is that we should be aware of those people and be aware of how they will be immediately picked up on by the media (while they blatantly ignore the leftists.)

I don't even have to say how I wish that the hierarchy of the church would be more aware of the abuses that take place within the "normal" church. (I use the word "normal" for sake of clarity and lack of a better term, but I think you know what I mean.)

C my friend,
Opinions of a very small minority do not place the Society itself in a state of sedevacantism. The opoinions of a handful of loudmouths is just that... their opinions. In the meantime, the SSPX has never espoused any heresy.

BTW, sedevacantism isn't a heresy.

David Nandell,

the Lutheran, Methodist, and Anglican leadership may have run out of beliefs, but in the eyes of Our Lord, they and their congregations are still worth saving.
