But the two presidential candidates disagree on a key foundation of any future draft: Mr. Obama supports a requirement for both men and women to register with the Selective Service, while Mr. McCain doesn't think women should have to register.

Much to the dismay of the Left, the anti-Iraq War protests haven't matched the size of the anti Vietnam War protests. The reason for the difference is because the earlier protest were more anti draft than anti Vietnam war. When the draft ended, the protests became less a problem.
No Pol is going to seriously try to reinstate the draft.
