"Love The Sinner, Hate The Sin"...
And other ridiculous Pre-Vatican II notions that need to be smashed
It's now "love the sinner, love the sin"... or at least accept it. Would you expect anything less from The Land of Fruits & Nuts (or sometimes called The Land of Piers & Queers), otherwise known as the Archdiocese of Los Angeles?
Here's some of the article from The California Catholic; (emphasis mine)
“To promote respect and acceptance”
In addition to racial and ethnic diversity, conference encourages Catholic students to accept differences in “sexual orientation”
One hundred and fifty students from 17 Catholic and public high schools in the Los Angeles archdiocese gathered on Saturday, Jan. 26, for a “diversity” conference at Marymount High School in Los Angeles. Schools attending the “Increase the Peace” conference included Bellarmine-Jefferson, Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary, Louisville, Loyola, Notre Dame Academy, Notre Dame High School, Providence, St. Mary’s Academy, and St. Monica’s, according to the Marymount High School web site.
A major focus of the conference was racial diversity. Yet, ethnic and racial diversity was not the only focus of “Increase the Peace.” “The diversity conference showed a contemporary approach by enlarging its scope beyond race and ethnicity,” said the Tidings. “Workshops also explored diversity in religion, ability/disability, gender, sexual orientation and socio-economics.”
Students who attended the conference “discovered and discussed all areas of diversity,” said the Marymount web site article. “The Saturday Conference was built around the ‘Big 8’ of Diversity: religion, socio-economics, race, ability/disability, gender, sexual orientation, age and ethnicity. The goal this first year was to introduce students to these eight areas of difference, to raise awareness and to promote respect and acceptance in order to ‘Increase the Peace.’
“The rich Marymount heritage inherited from the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM) teaches to ‘Foster an appreciation for the culture and customs of the country we live in; create unity through diversity,’” continued the web site article.
Keynote speaker at the conference was America Ferrara, who described how she achieved her dream of becoming an actress, despite being a Latina and short of stature. Ferrara has appeared in Real Women Have Curves and, last year, won Golden Globe and Emmy awards for her role in the comedy, Ugly Betty.
"You have to take a leap of faith, and work hard, remembering your dream for yourself, may not be the same dream that your family, community and the larger society have for you,” Ferrara told students. “But don't give up -- persevere. We are all part of something much bigger. It's about taking the gifts that are given to you and directing them towards great and wonderful things."
Hip-hop performer “Tommy the Clown,” said the Marymount article, “closed the conference in his unique style of dance and celebration.” Honestly, as soon as I finished reading this little STD of an article, complete with it's feel good exhortations; rejection of any and all traditional teachings; promotion of the idea that all truth, beauty, and knowledge originates from within us, rather than from above us; and best of all... little to no emphasis on the greater glory of God, I immediately was reminded of 2d Corinthians 11:14.
Not many will say it... but I will. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles really is teaching a whole new religion. What they're foisting upon the Faithful sure as hell (emphasis on hell) ain't Catholicism.

What a load of crap. The feel good, I'm okay & you're okay, everything is relative thinking has full rein in the Church these days. God help us all.
How can these people even still be in communion with Rome?
The only good thing I can say was at least "Tommy the Clown" didn't dance at Mass.
I have no doubt that Roger the Dodger is a heretic, but are there no orthodox Catholics in the Los Angeles archdiocese (except may the gut at the L.A. Catholic blog) who have the Christian fortitude t speal out against that guy? How many souls are being lost in the meantime?
hmmm.. I thought the The Land of Fruits and Nuts was San Francisco.
Anna,
The parts are interchangable.
