As Quick As In The Twinkling Of An Eye
UPDATE!!

Three short days ago (Saturday afternoon, to be specific) I asked the musical question "So Why Is A Teacher At A Catholic School Linking To This?" For those of you who are unfamiliar with what I'm talking about, scroll down.

Anyhow, as of this morning, the link to the anti-Catholic "author", Philip Pullman, is no longer listed on the links section of a particular teacher's webpage at a particular Catholic school.

But for those who would still like to see the original page, I found it cached. Click here to view.

Now I must ask some follow-up questions ---

1. Why is the link no longer there? Who made it go away, and why?
2. Why did the "higher-ups" at this school not take direct corrective action when he/she/they saw that link in the first place?
3. Are there those in positions of authority and leadership at least raising their eyebrows to the goings on at this particular Catholic school?

And the most important question;

4. Is the link in question just an anomaly... or are we just seeing the tip of the iceberg at this particular Catholic school?

Just to add seasoning to the questioning, Why is there a link to fun things for girls, by girls and not a link for boys?

Especially as the Dept. Of Education has identified that boys are the at risk group in public schools for academic failure, undr achievment, alienation, suicide, drug abuse, molestation etc. etc.

So, since I was wondering the same thing, I hopped over to fifth grade teacher Mrs. Curry -http://teacherweb.com/NC/SaintMarkCatholicSchool%2CWilmington/BeckaCurry/ap1.stm

On her reading list:
Hatchet - includes a very graphic description of a marital affair (which ruins the protagonists life and is the catalyst for the book)
It is an award winning book, just perhaps not appropriate for 10 year old kids. It's rated age 12 and up by one group, 8th grade and up by another.

One possibility: some of the more vocal parents (or grandparents) of those school children stopped by to visit the Cave, and learned the bad news.

After reading your blog post about this teacher, book, and author, I was more firm with my kids about NOT seeing the movie in December. They are bummed, of course. Who wouldn't want to see a movie with a talking polar bear? LOL.

Anyway, my kids school (Catholic elem) is having their book fair this week to raise $$ for the library. One the front cover of the "books for sale" booklet was The Golden Compass. Now, this booklet was distributed by Scholastic and not written up by the school. I've got a meeting w/the principal later to discuss this book.
