At a recent Democratic Presidential Debate, The Wicked Witch of the North was asked about her plan to combat childhood obesity. And true to her Democratic Nanny State mentality, it's the responsibility of the government, not parents, to ensure that children eat a balanced diet.
Hillary will get my super-sized triple Whopper with cheese and bacon when she pry's it loose from my cold dead hands. You see, I'm smart enough lace up my PF Flyers and hit the bricks after a meal like that. I can run faster, jump higher... all that jazz.
But in all fairness, I must be some sort of a throwback. A caveman if you will. I don't need the government to order me to go running. I'm perfectly capable of making that decision on my own.

All these goombas that try to tell us what party to vote for to be good catholics, who look at the social programs, should look at this apply the good old catholic social principle of SUBSIDIARITY.
The state can't make things better, because the State--any State--exists primarily to maintain it's own existance and further it's own power.
The way to make things better is to live IAW the gosple, personnaly, and to inculcate gospel values in others so that we can take care of our selves and each other.
The state will say we don't feed our kids right, no matter what we feed them, in order to expand it's power--regardless if it needs the power--if we let it.
Oh where o where is the Militia of St. Michael when we need 'em? Oh, tht's right, we didn't sign up.
God forbid that Hilary gets elected. It takes the village dolt to think that only a village can raise a child.
There's a reason I lean libertarian, and nutcases like Hillary (by the way, I am rather excited that the first words I saw of this article were "Wicked Witch of the North" and I knew immediately who it was about) only help my position.
Next they'll instate laws that mandate "exercise breaks" at work... oh wait, that was on the radio yesterday.
Looking at some of those FAT american kids and their FAT american parents it may be the be thing if the goverment stepped in on THEIR behalf!!

Where does government intrusion end? When was being fat considered a crime? Or at least worthy of governmental intrusion?
Oh, Vir, I'm a pessimist when it comes to politics and I think Hilary will take the White House. I guess her first eight years as president weren't enough. Not to mention Slick Willie's desire to rekindle his dating life.

Exactly! I get so sick and tired of everyone demanding that the government take care of everything. Poverty...health care...obesity...I mean COME ON! First of all if you obey the Ten Commandments that takes care of a whole rash of stuff. Then if you avoid the Seven Deadly Sins that takes care of even more. Finally if you avoid the Venial Sins (to the best of your ability...) by golly we'd have a durn tootin' happy society with no poverty, no crime, no folk going without health care and no folk sitting around stuffing face with junk food and *not* exercising.
Why do we think the gov'ment needs to hold our hands?!?!?
WIMPS! Our society has become overloaded with LAZY WIMPS!
Remeber, these are the same people who argue that if a woman wants to go out and have an abortion what she does with HER body is HER choice!
(Never mind the body of the unborn child.)
Or if Jane Doe wants to go out and sleep with every random guy she meets in a bar - that's HER choice and HER body!
Or the people who attended the Folsom Street Fair - that's THEIR choice and THEIR body.
However, I want to have a Snickers bar, and these same people who say murder is a woman's choice will hysterically cry "YOU CAN'T DO THAT TO YOUR BODY! WE MUST CONTROL WHAT YOU EAT and HOW YOU EXERCISE! YOUR BODY IS OUR BODY!"
