This Is The Dawning Of The Age Of The Laity!
The age of the la-i-tyyyyyyyyyy!!

Imagine the horror. I can just hear The 5th Dimension belt that tune out right now at Mahoney's Edumacation Conference. Or even at that ugly-assed abomination that passes itself off as a cathedral. What's that thing called again... The Raj Majal?

Anyhow, pardon the Dr. Dorian-esque daydreaming. Back to reality.

For about the past decade or so, I've been hearing the phrase "The Age of the Laity" bandied about. Somehow, this is suppose to be a good thing. Priests and bishops will listen to us. We will have a say-so in how the mass is structured and conducted. The actual running of parishes will be left up to us.

Gee, didn't I just describe Protestantism? But don't forget gang, Phony-Baloney Cardinal Mahony has recently stated that the lack of priestly vocations is a "gift from God". Never mind the fact that he manufactured the so-called shortage.

Anyhoo... Judie Brown of the American Life League just threw a heapin' helpin' of hypocrisy right back in the face Mahony and the rest of his ilk.

Here's a taste;

American Life League: We Insist Bishops Must Deny Pro-Abortion Politicians Communion, Here's Why

Special to LifeSiteNews.com by American Life League President Judie Brown

Over the last four years American Life League has sought, through advertising, public commentary, personal communications, and other means to invite the Catholic bishops of our nation to enforce a particular Church law that deals with the protection of Christ who is truly present in the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

This Church law, Canon 915, is quite specific and states:

Those who have been excommunicated or interdicted after the imposition or the declaration of a penalty as well as others who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to communion.

It is our position that this canon should apply to any public figure, whether a television personality, a politician, a Hollywood star or an otherwise well-known individual who claims to be Catholic while at the same time supporting abortion either by vote, public statement or financial support. Thus we have simply asked each bishop, priest, deacon and Eucharistic minister to enforce this church law.

Hmmm.... "others who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin". Wouldn't that include those cardinals, bishops, priests who stubbornly continue to violate Canon Law by giving Holy Communion to the likes of Pelosi?

"...others who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin". That has Mahony, Weurl, Niederauer, and Gumbleton written all over it.

Wait let me get this straight, you dont like the laity having any power and you want the priests and bishops to have it all? But then you point out the corruption of some of your leaders? Something isnt adding up here!

Gee lets give stone-waller, corrupt, criminal Mahony even MORE POWER, thats the answer!

{I don't think so}

Anon,

Let me get this straight, I take it that you're Catholic and that you're unaware that Catholicism has had a hierarchy since 33AD, and that hierarchy has always consisted of those ordained into the Sacraments Priesthood. But you're advocating a Protestant practice of Lay "power-sharing", for lack of a better word? Something isn't adding up here!

Gee, let's rip up the Constitution because we've had some bad politicians. And while we're at it, let's abolish all police forces because of some bad cops, that's the answer!

{I don't think so}

Personally, I was hoping it was the "setting" of the Age of the Laity!

This "Age of the Laity" stuff is nothing new: I've been hearing this one for years (the number of priests in my diocese is in the double digits).

I notice signs of a relapse into the Lollard heresy.

It's the age of the laity alright. However, judging from what goes on most parishes I have to say that the laity blew it.
