Are They That Politically Correct?
Or is this the MSM's fault?
The following celebrities are constantly identified by the mainstream media as "Black" or "African-American". OK, fair enough.
Now here's my silly question... why aren't they ever identified as "White"? After all, each and every one of them has just as much White (European) heritage in them as they do Black (Sub-Saharan African).
Hell, I've made no secret of it that I'm mixed-race (one of the pictures on the left is of Father Jesus Duenas... he's my 2d cousin. Click on the picture for an amazing story).
Anyhow, if I am ever in a position where I hold celebrity status (fat chance), I'd be tickled pink to tell the whole world about both sides of my family. Hell, who wouldn't?
But don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that all mixed-race celebrities conveniently forget about their non-Black heritage... Ward Hines of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Lenny Kravitz immediately come to mind. Especially Ward Hines.
Honestly, if the above pictured individuals so desire to ethnically identify themselves as little green beings from Mars, that's their call. I just personally find it.... odd.... that some folks very well could be THAT Politically Correct that they forgot about their mothers. And that's just sad.
I guess that all this just reminds me too much of the Ecumenical and Progressive Catholics who spend too much time "identifying" with moslems, hindus, protestants, shintoists, etc, etc, and somewho along the way, they've forgotten about being Catholic.

Well, both Halle and the ultra cute Derek Jeter are very proud of their mothers and are honest about the failings of their dads. As for Barak, he's silent about his poor mother for politcal reasons. Prince, I think used to talk a lot about being mixed race.
Another thing to remember is this: in the black community speaking well of your non black heritage is a quick way to be ostracized and beat up at the playground.
