Proof of What Wearing a Habit and Being Faithful to the Magesterium Will Do
Teaching Order Blessed with 1400% Growth

H/T to “The Window”

The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist
were founded nine years ago by Cardinal O'Connor of New York. They now number 59, a growth rate of 1400 percent. They are expected to be 70 in all by 2007.

The average age of the professed Sisters is 28, and the average age of those in the novitiate is 24. Astoundingly, 173 young women attended their vocations retreat in February of this year. Mother Assumpta Long, the driving force behind the community, has a simple explanation for their success: "It all begins in the chapel. If it doesn't happen there, it's not going to happen. The most important thing is our religious life."

The Sisters were invited to Michigan by Bishop Mengeling and funded initially by pizza magnate Tom Monaghan. Trained to be teachers, the Sisters already run two schools in Ann Arbor, but soon will be sending two groups of four Sisters each to South Carolina and Arizona at the request of Bishops Baker and Olmstead.

I know Sisters Mary David and Mary Magdalene -- excellent people, both.

Yeah, most people would be surprised at what fidelity can accomplish, and inspire, in the Church. The 'felt banner' church can only drive people away from the Faith. Maybe, if more religious orders ditched the stretch pants and contempt for the Magisterium, there may be more and truer vocations.

Interesting that they mentioned Michigan. SSPX has five (5) chapels [http://www.sspx.org/chapels.htm#mi]and two (2) schools [http://www.sspx.org/schools.html#MI] up there. So, tradition is alive in well in that state; or at least better off there than in many other states that only have the Novus Ordo.

John Cardinal O'Conner was a true Shepherd of the Church. I grew up in the NY Archdiocese during his reign. He was very much a strong and firm shepherd in a very Challenging Archdiocese. He stands heads and shoulders above Mahoney or McCarrick who are more politicians than shepherds.

May the Lord God, and the Blessed Mother continue to smile down on them.
