Dear Former Altar Boy
Thanks for your efforts, but I am dismayed to see that Our Lady is Queen of the ANGLES! What about the Saxons, the Jutes and all the rest of us in other tribes?
And it would be nice to have quotations given correctly. Our Lady is "our tainted nature's solitary boast" -- this is a quote from the poet Wordsworth.
Anon,
Thanks for catching the typo (which you see has been corrected) and I'll assume the sarcasm was in jest. As for Wordsworth, I was trying to paraphrase the idea, not quote him.
We'll look forward to your continued eagle eye proofreading in the future.
Thanks for doing the correction from Angles to Angels. I'm sorry my post seemed to be sarcastic and I am sorry I could not convey the jest in written words. I'm afraid a lot of Australian humour is like that -- somewhat wry, dry or sardonic but not intended to be bitter. Many Australians think Americans have no sense of humour at all!
I still think Wordsworth was better at conveying the idea. And you did put the phrase in quotation marks.
Thanks again for your efforts. The picture is lovely.
