Former Altar Boy Checks In
It’s a real honor that the Caveman Commander has invited me to become a contributor to the Lair. Some of you may recognize my blog “handle” from my occasional scrawlings on the cave wall, which I will continue to do. However, whenever I think I have something worthy to share, you will see it as a regular posting.
By way of background, I am a cradle Catholic (although I’ll admit to a few years of non-practicing in my 20s) and have lived under six Popes. My parents not only gifted me with the One True Faith, but also 12 years of Catholic schooling. I’ve tried to study, and practice, my Faith ever since. (Plenty of practice – one of these years, I may get it right!) If any of my other history is relevant, you’ll see it in future posts.
My favorite Scripture passage is Matthew 7:1. My favorite saintly quotes are:
“For my part, I should not believe the gospel except moved by the authority of the Catholic Church.” –St. Augustine of Hippo
“Better that only a few Catholics should be left, staunch and sincere in their religion, than that they should, remaining many, desire as it were, to be in collusion with the Church's enemies and in conformity with the open foes of our faith.” –St. Peter Canisius
“The glory of God is man fully alive.” –St. Irenaeus (Surely the good saint was thinking of downhill skiing and snorkeling.)

Do I sound old, now?
Oops, that should be John XXIII!
FAB,
Of course the greatest Pope named by you is...Pius XII. May he be raised soon to the altar!---Now that Pope should have "The Great" assigned to him.
