The Church Approved Apparition That No One In The Church Wants To Talk About.
Well, almost no one.

Third and the Last message given to Sister Agnes Sasagawa on October 13, 1973:
"The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against other bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres (other priests). Churches and altars will be sacked. The Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord."
"The demon will be especially implacable against the souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them."
April, 1984 - Most Rev. John Shojiro Ito, Bishop of Niigata, Japan, after years of extensive investigation, declares the events of Akita, Japan, to be of supernatural origin, and authorizes throughout the entire diocese the veneration of the Holy Mother of Akita. He said: "The message of Akita is the message of Fatima."
June, 1988 - Vatican City - Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, Prefect, Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, gives definitive judgment on the Akita events and messages as reliable and worthy of belief.

Well, there's an eye-opener... and no mistake.
I must admit, the Far East has never held my interests. I find the expression of the native cultures very strange to my Western mind, especially their art and music.
I do, however, have a profound admiration for the Japanese Samurai and their warrior code of Bushido. Must be my military background.
In any case, one of the things I'd like to confirm is the extent to which Catholicism took hold in Japan. I once heard (or read: I cannot remember anymore) that Nagasaki was the pre-eminent Catholic city of Japan.
Given that Roosevelt's War last century (1941-1945) had, as its purpose, the salvation of Bolshevism -- which is opposed diametrically to the Catholic religion -- the atomic bombing of Nagasaki makes much more "sense".

Years ago I read about the Akita apparitions. They made perfect sense to me then and even more now.

With all that has been going on in the Church I decided to dig out my copy of the English edition of the book written about the apparitions. (Approved by Bishop Ito as being an accurate translation from the Japanese) It was interesting to see then Cardinal Ratzinger's picture on the back cover.
Somehow, I don't think it is coincidence that he is now Papa Benedetto.
Maybe it is time for you to do another full blown post on the visions & the message that came with them.

Two miracles in Japan: hiroshima and nagasaki were both the largest catholic populations of the country. In both places, priests who lived the fatima message were completely unharmed in the two nuclear blasts, and they were at ground zero! Even after 40 years and many tests, they never had any radiation sickness. One wonders if the bombs had been dropped in other, more militarily important cities, if Japan would not be largely Catholic now? On the other hand, did someone know they were Catholic bastions, and that is why they were chosen? satan is always in volved in crimes, but Our Lady showed her power!!!

Yes, I love Our Lady of Akita, too.
It would appear that the apparition is not approved.
More recently, the situation has been further clarified. It appears that the Vatican has not approved of Akita, as the following statement from the Apostolic Nuncio in Tokyo, Ambrose de Paoli, issued in 1999, makes clear. In response to a query from the editor of a British Catholic magazine, the Apostolic Nuncio stated: “The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has asked me to respond to your query re: Akita. ... The Holy See has never given any kind of approval to either the events or messages of Akita.” (Christian Order, December 1999, p. 610.)
