Gallup Poll Illustrates How Destructive The "Spirit Of Vatican II" Has Been
This must be that "Springtime of the Church" I've been hearing so much about

For all those Spirit of V2 and hard-core Novus Ordo defenders out there... how much more of this crap do you need shoved in your face before you admit what an absolute and utter failure the past almost 50 years have been?

Here's some of the article from The Baptist Standard;
Asked whether a range of issues are “morally acceptable,” here’s how Catholics compared to the general population:

• Abortion: Catholics 40 percent; 41 percent overall

• Homosexual relations: Catholics 54 percent; 45 percent overall

• Divorce: Catholics 71 percent; 66 percent overall

• Embryonic stem cell research: Catholics 63 percent; 62 percent overall

• Heterosexual sex outside marriage: Catholics 67 percent; 57 percent overall

• Having a child out of wedlock: Catholics 61 percent; 52 percent overall
And for those who wail "and how many fallen away Catholics responded to this poll? The whole thing is invalid!"

Lapsed Catholics don't invalidate my position... if anything they set it in concrete. We have an extraordinary number of fallen away Catholics precisely because of Vatican II.

Case in point; from Index of Leading Catholic Indicators: The Church Since Vatican II; Attendance at Mass. A 1958 Gallup Poll reported that three in four Catholics attended church on Sundays. A recent study by the University of Notre Dame found that only one in four now attend.Anyhow, the responsibility for this lies not squarely in the laps of Modernist heterodox priests/presiders/presidents of the assembly (or whatever they hell they're called). The blame for this ecclesiastical abortion lies squarely in the laps of the bishops who smiled and looked the other way while they abandoned Catholicism and became Roman Protestants just as fast as they could.

The words of the hilarious and brilliant Anna Haycraft comes to mind; "But look what he did for the ecumenical movement," his friends cry. "And look what he did to the Church," we respond....Ecumenism seems to mean taking something pure and strong, mixing it up with something weak and polluted, slashing it about, watching the churches empty and then congratulating yourself on your progress. But upon further reflection, I think the name "Roman Protestants" is unfair. These jackasses collectively couldn't make one decent Baptist.

Since the so-called "Spirit of Vatican II" has produced fruit like this, I think we can safely say that, unlike the real Spirit of Vatican II found in th letter of Vatican II that this spirit is actually demonic in origin & it is time to break out the holy water & exorcists.

Actually, I would question the poll's definition of Catholic since the results from real Catholics would be 0%.

It makes me sick how correct you are.

I used to fear the incipient schism. Now I await it with the hope that we will finally be free to be catholic in our own Church.

Let me see if I get this . . . today's (Southern) Baptists are more Catholic than Catholics when it comes to the infallible moral teachings of the Catholic Church. Right? It figures . . . .

Ade,
I can't speak for the Baptists, but I will say that they have seemn to have a stong set of moral absolutes. Even if they do have some serious flaws in their theology.

Which is more than can be said of the run-of-the-mill "Catholic".

unlike the real Spirit of Vatican II found in th letter of Vatican IIYou mean all the ambiguity and vagueness that's contained in the texts of Vatican that were a result of compromise between the liberal and conservative commissions at the Council?

The council is not a pure entity that has merely been highjack like the neo-Catholics would like you to believe.

It is precisely because of the ambiguity and problematic language within the texts that it can be highjacked in the first place.

The blame for this ecclesiastical abortion lies squarely in the laps of the bishops who smiled and looked the other way while they abandoned CatholicismLet us also not forget the recent and weak Popes who failed to discipline these bishops and caused scandal in their other actions and endeavors.

There is always blame for cultural revolutions as well that hammered members of the Church through the 60s and 70s.

I recommend Michael Davies' 3 volume THE LITURGICAL REVOLUTION.

Also:

Ralph M. Wiltgen, RHINE FLOWS INTO THE TIBER. Regarding this one, Fr. Joseph Ratzinger was a peritus to a German bishop who attended the Council. At the time, Fr. Ratzinger was in favor of changing the mass. I just bet Cardinal Ratziner a/k/a Pope Benedict regret much of his "advice." The German bishops managed to high jack from an already reluctant Vatican curia the agenda being developed for the Council.

IMHO, Pope John XXIII had a brain f*rt which resulted in him calling for a Council. The result was . . . well you already know.
