...More on the Religion of Peace
So with all the hullabaloo about the Quran burning, I think we have lost sight of something. First as I understand it muslims are to follow the 10 Commandments. Their prophet Mohammed who inspired, was recorded, or wrote (not clear which) the Hadith contradicts the 10 Commandments. We all know the 8th Commandment, "Thou Shalt not Bear False Witness Against thy Neighbor". Some of us have learned that muslims are not only "allowed" to lie, but are encouraged to lie in order defeat the unbeliever (non-muslims). See link for explanations.
As a Catholic I know of no instance where it is acceptable for me to lie. If I do I must confess my sin because I have put myself outside of God's grace. If I compound that lie by committing the act with the full awareness that I can just go to the closest Priest and confess that would be a presumption of God's mercy. This is also a sin which cannot be absolved unless spoken in a confessional as well to wit your confessor could choose not to grant absolution. That would be extreme but that is the chance you would be taking. In either case regardless of the forgiveness one would receive we learn that we are damaging our souls each time we sin.
A Priest once told me that sin is like a nail that gets put into a fresh piece of drywall. When you go to confession the nail gets pulled out but the hole is still there, it cannot be repaired until purgatory. Catholics understand that ANY sin harms the soul and that there are no exceptions to that. Frankly any faith that tells you that you can use the tools of satan (death, force, and deciet) in order to win converts or destroy opposition is being decieved.
Muslims must begin to think long and hard on who would benefit if they were lead astray from the 10 Commandments. There is only one I know of and that is Satan.
Should this man burn the Quran? In my opinion no, but not because it would offend muslims. I don't think he should because in the end it will make it harder to convert muslims.

• Burning a Koran to incite violence and elevate ego is just as wrong as burning the Bible or the American flag.
• Committing acts of violence against homosexual people is just as wrong as the filth practiced by those people.
• Shooting abortion doctors and nurses is just as wrong as the murder of the unborn babies that they commit.
No one gets to defy God's laws. No one. We are all held to the same standard. Yes, I loathe liberalism, progressivism, humanism and atheism. But what is the common denominator in all those "ism's" but the "ISM" itself - the "I - Self - Me"? That's the whole problem. Neither you nor I are God no matter how smart we think we are. We are fallible human beings, and that includes atheist and Christian and Muslim and Jew and Buddhist alike.
There is one instance where it's permissible for a Catholic to lie: telling the Nazis that there weren't any jews hiding in the crawl space of your house. I believe Pope Pius XII forged lots of Certificates of baptism for jews.

Forgive my picking on little details, I am a Dominican.
1) The hole left by the nail (spiritual effects of sin) can be repaired before purgatory, by penance and charity.
2) Your last point is spot on - the only reason not to burn the qur'an is prudential charity. Out of charity we really should destroy it (since it destroys souls) but in prudence we realise the more charitable gesture is to leave it be (for now), since it makes them more likely to come to the fulness of truth in the Catholic Faith.
Re: Ioannes.
1) Burning a qur'an is as wrong as burning the American Flag (since they both represent allegiances of this world) but nowhere near as wrong as burning a Bible (since it is divine Truth). Even non-believers commit a gravely more evil act when they burn a Bible than a flag, since the sacrilegious against holy objects occurs regardless of belief or intent - these only compound existing guilt. Burning an American flag may in some circumstances be right and just (such as when a flag becomes an obstacle to Faith).
2) Yes and no. It is wrong, but the degree of the fault is not so easily declared equivalent. In one sense it is far worse to commit acts of violence against them (since we offend the dignity of both God and His creature) but in another sense their perversion is far worse. We can't really just throw out the "just as bad" line.
3) Unfortunately, the last point is just not true. The murder of innocents is still far more wicked than the murder of the obstinately wicked. It's still murder to kill an abortionist, or a thousand of them, but their crimes remain worse.
Again, please forgive me these scruples - but they are necessary distinctions, and I thank Almighty God that they exist, and that we have received such an intellect as can comprehend them.
If I burn the koran to a DVD, would they know the difference, and would they still riot and kill?
Good point USMC 9971. Whether the Koran is burned or not - it will not change their attitudes. They will still riot, kill, bomb, stone to death, etc.. regardless.
