One Has The Guts
One out of over 300
Bishop David Ricken of the Diocese of Green Bay, Wisconsin has suspended all funding of CCHD.
Click here to send him a quick e-mail of thanks.
UPDATE!!
I'm to understand that there have been a handful of other Bishops that are withholding funds to the CCHD. I can't find anything. Does anyone else have any info on this?
Thanks.
UPDATE!! Part II Cam said...
LifeSiteNews posted in November that Bishop Barres of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Bishop Bruskewitz of Lincoln, Nebraska, Bishop Morlino of Madison, Wisconsin and Bishop Baker of Birmingham, Alabama all suspended the collections this year ( http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/nov/09112305.html )
Bishop Slattery of Tulsa, Oklahoma also called off the collection (he was the sixth bishop to do so) http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/nov/09113010.html
LifeSiteNews reports that Bishop Ricken is the 7th Bishop to withhold funds, but when I read the articles I can't figure out who #5 is. I know Bishop Vasa of Baker, Oregon has been speaking out lately about his concerns with the collection, but I don't remember seeing that he'd called it off yet.
So there's at least seven! I wish one of them were in my diocese!

My Letter to the Bishop:
Most Reverend David Ricken,
Please allow me to thank you for your courage and fidelity to the Holy Catholic Church and to her oft confused children. Your act of clarity and leadership will correctly send a message to the faithful of your diocese, and to many around the country, that there are still Bishops who understand the large responsibility given to them by God.
I know it must be extremely difficult in these modern times to make such stands, but the faithful are behind you every step of the way. I will pray that your decision aids in properly instructing those malformed consciences that may have been influenced by the progressive modernist ilk that have stolen from God to promote evil.
You serve your God and your diocese with honor!
God Bless You and Keep You!

I believe it may be Archbishop Eusebius Beltran of Oklahoma City as Bishop Slattery is under him, we have had not such collection in OKC and it's boycott is the kind of thing he is likely to be a part of.
Can anyone of these guys be spared for the LA archdiocese next February 2011?
