Washington (CNSNews.com) – House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) rejected the idea of continuing a congressional pay freeze until Congress can balance the budget, saying that it would take “a long time” until the budget might be balanced – too long, he said, for Congress to go without a pay raise.
Speaking to reporters at his weekly press briefing, Hoyer explained that Congress had already frozen its pay by rejecting a cost of living increase. However, extending that freeze was too much for Hoyer to support.

Speaker of the House $223,500 (Current) And that doesn't include that jet she ditty-bops around in.
When I start to feel sorry for myself, I should look to the least of my brethren. Namely, that poverty stricken House Majority Leader from Maryland, the Dishonorable Mr. Hoyer.
Poor thang.

To add insult to injury, the majority of senators and representatives are already rich men (and women).
I would advocate mandatory term limits, but that ship has already sailed.
How about ending their retirement benefits and their "souped up" medical plans? I don't suppose this would work either. They would still spend their time pandering to their special interests, their original motivations for entering political life to begin with.
What a mess . . . . ;-O
$13 K a year to teach those children Speaker Pelosi is so fond of. OK, they're really college students. But no, it's not a typo.
Thier salary does not take into consideration all of the benefits they receive like:
1. Best Medical Plan in the World
2. Best Retirement Program
3. Tax payer funded junkets
4. Business deals
5. Books they get paid to write
6. Pay for speaking once done in congress.
It is a friggin crime that these assholes get paid anything for thier time.
