"The Difficult We Do At Once. The Impossible Takes A Bit Longer"
Motto of the Navy's Seabees

I should have titled this entry The Recipe For Making The United States An Economic Superpower Again, but I wanted to give a helmet tip to my Navy brethren for their can-do spirit. America needs a shot of that right about now.

Anyhow, I'm sure most of you reading this are just like me in regards to certain political issues being non-negotiable. For me, if any given politician is in favor of abortion in any way, shape or form, they can disregard ever getting my vote. And fighting the Global War on Terrorism as a war comes in a pretty close second.

And with all that said, I'm realistic enough that what's high on the list for many is jobs. As I've posted in the past, this is the painfully simple formula for being an economic superpower.

And that got me thinking... as many of us have already realize, one has to try pretty damn hard on a trip through Wal-Mart or Home Depot to find products made in the USA. Remember during the heyday of NAFTA/GATT how it seemed like overnight our factories shutting down and moving to China (for the most part)?

OK, anyone with aspirations of reaching political office... here's your sure-fire way to get (and stay) elected --

Re-open our factories.

Yes, it's just as simple as that. Make it fiscally attractive for Corporate America to invest in America again. If we succeeded in shipping our industrial base overseas, we can succeed in re-establishing our industrial might right here at home.

Damn it, we're Americans. We can do anything we set our minds to. We've been proving that for over 200 years.

VSC~ My family and I are with you 100% on this. When the topic is Abortion there can be no compromise ~ same as our Liturgy not having "inclusive" language.

Incidentally, re the Seabees. We have quite a collection of baseball caps bought from Veterans' groups and one of them is the Seabees' AND their "Can Do" logo.

Semper Fidelis!!!

I'm also with you 100%.
Visited my sons in the US during Christmas and, true enough, found it so difficult to find something 'made in the USA' to bring back as souvenir :)

I admit I love the American people ... there's something about them and their brief history that makes them 'great' :)

Have a blessed Sunday!

Recently got to visit the SeaBee base at Port Hueneme. First time on a base for decades, except six years ago for the graduation of my nephew at USMCRD San Diego.

Exciting to see a column of those big ied defying trucks rolling along probably heading for the loading dock.

Here's what it will take to get our factories to re-open, and make a profit.

1. Cut corporate taxes.
2. Deregulate work (e.g., do away with the following laws, for starters: NLRA, OSHA, EEOA, all minimum wage laws, all payroll taxes, government unemployment insurance ...).
