Here Comes The Obama Tax Increase!
The 'Hope and Change' you asked for, America

It's January 15, 2010. The Bush Tax Cuts expired as of the beginning of this new year.

Does that affect you? You bet it does. Personally speaking, my taxes just increased over $300 a year. Check your pay stub, America.

WARNING! Harsh Language Aert.

Hi again, Caveman. I must be in some special category (65, single, no dependents, retired, state pension, Soc. Sec., and Medicare) because my net income did not decrease much in 2010. Get this:

My Social Security gross benefit increased $0.50 a month (4/100 of 1 percent, bhd), but at the same time my Medicare premium went up $3.30, so I have a net loss per month of $2.80.

This is nowhere near the loss that folks in the work force are taking - if I remember you correctly, you're being hit about a hundred times harder than I am. And you probably have dependents.

I'm still pissed, though, just like you.

Cavey,

You are right. The Bush era cuts expired. The cuts the Republicans didn't have the balls to make permanant (or as permanant as can be when dealing with the federal government). The tax cuts that the Dems claimed only helped the rich. Yes, mine are up as well.
