More Proof Of 'Hitler's Pope'
Those are Nazis... right?
Ahhh, how the anti-Catholics love trotting out this picture. And yes, this really is Archbishop Eugenio Maria Giuseppe Giovanni Pacelli (the future Ven. Pope Pius XII), then Apostolic Nuncio to Bavaria.
But here's the part the anti-Catholics conveniently leave out. The photo was taken in 1927, six years before Hitler came to power. And the troops in the picture are soldiers of the Weimar Republic, not those of Nazi Germany's Wehrmacht. Nazi Germany didn't even exist when this picture was taken.
Just because certain troops wear a distinctive piece of headgear that's associated with Nazi Germany, doesn't necessarily make them either Nazis or Germans.
Case in point -
And while I'm at it, take a gander at this 1948 photo of a Messerschmitt Bf-109. Because it's an aircraft associated with Nazi Germany, this pilot and crew simply MUST be Germans and Party members, too, huh?

Great debunking, Caveman! Thanks! I notice the Bf-109 has a six-pointed star on the fuselage - might be Israeli Air Force, hm?
VSC, couldn't help but notice that our own troops wear a helmet similar to the ones in the photos.
Good to learn that the Israelis used formerly Nazi aircraft in their war for independence.
Egg-Zack-a-Tackily, Old Bob!!
Helen, they also used a lot of Nazi relic Mauser K98 bolt action rifles. The Mauser is really one of the finest bolt action rifles ever made.
Thanks for that info, Arkanabar. Am always learning new things here :-)
I like the former Soviet Union helmuts the best. But if I were to own just one helmut, I'd pick one of those ones the bikers wear that are barely more than a skull cap, and have it powder coated green, just to be in step with the carbon tax department.
The Irish Army also used the German helmet before WW2.
