Who's The REAL Target...
And who's just collateral damage?
I'm quickly coming to the opinion that this isn't just about a certain priest, as it is about a certain bishop. From the Diocese of Raleigh website, dated 06/15/09, I found an article entitled Fourteen Diaconate Candidates Instituted into Ministry of Acolyte. And guess what name I stumbled across? You guessed it --
Juan Alexander Vicent-Martínez.
Is one of the individuals in the above images the same individual in the posting I did just a few hours ago? (seen below with the same news caption that I posted earlier today)

Supporters of Rev. Walter Ospina confront his detractors outside of St. Andrews Catholic Church following Mass on Wednesday evening. Former deacon Alexander Vincent attempts to explain why the congregation locked the church doors in protest on Sunday. (Photo by Will Okun)Same person? I'm not 100% certain. But the chances of these being two different men are now within the realm of incalculable proportions. But if I'm wrong, I'll readily admit it and apologize for such.
But if I'm not... well, keep checking back to The Lair. You'll see.
And in the Oh-By-The-Way file, from the article referenced at the beginning of this post, here's some of what His Excellency made to the Deacon candidates; (snarky comments mine - oh, if the Bishop would just let me pen his sermons.)Extending congratulations to the Deacon candidates and their families, Bishop Burbidge added, “We pray that through the intercession of Mary our Mother, Saint Anthony of Padua and Saint John Vianney (and to some, Martin Luther), you will lose yourselves to the Providence of God; be men of prayer filled with Eucharistic amazement (while some 'explain' why The Eucharist was illegally padlocked away in one of our parishes), and ambassadors of Christ who bring Him to others and assure the most needy in our midst that the Lord is always there to carry us!” (Life goes on. A man becomes preeminent, he's expected to have enthusiasms. Enthusiasms! Enthusiasms... what are mine? What draws my admiration? What is that which gives me joy? Baseball! A man stands alone at the plate. This is the time for what? For individual achievement. There he stands alone. But in the field, what? Part of a team. Teamwork.... Looks, throws, catches, hustles - part of one big team. Bats himself the live-long day, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and so on. If his team don't field, what is he? You follow me? No one! Sunny day, the stands are full of fans. What does he have to say? "I'm goin' out there for myself. But... I get nowhere unless the team wins.")
Click here to see where the quote is from. And no, I'm not advocating violence in this case... I just dig the creative way that particular piece of athletic equipment is used as a club. Am I the only one who is under the impression that someone in the congregation wasn't paying attention? Either that, or doesn't really give a damn what the Bishop says.
What do you think?

Aaaa, fine print! Hurts...aging...eyes...Blogger unquestionably has some bugs to work out.
The protester dude bears an amazing resemblance to the deacon in the front row, nearest the camera.
Anita,
Is the print better now? I just edited it so all print should be "normal" text sized.
Much better. I've had that same problem with Blogger on V for Victory, especially when using Explorer. One thing that helps (besides using Firefox to blog) is, when I cut and paste stuff from other sites, to paste everything into Notepad, then recopy it from there to Blogger. That strips away all goofy formatting bugs.
Now back to this stealth deacon/former deacon/protester dude: I agree something is el stinko in the state of Denmark!
Cavey,
The pictures seem to portray a simple case of a hypocritical pharisee seeking his place in the front row of the assembly and honors in the marketplace.
VSC,
This is, rather obviously, a mix between a smoking gun and an 800 lb. gorilla in the living room that would seem to have been invisible before your astute exposé.
You ever think about doing P.I. work?
You may be right. I highly suspect that the ex-deacon, as he is presenting himself but really isn't, was kicked out of the program for some reason. & that that provides the motive. Keep on searching Cavey, it will be interesting to find out the rest of the story that the media will ignore.
Aaaa-Ha!! It's termites! Yes, that's right. Termites making their best effort to destroy from within.
It won't be surprising if it turns out that the "former deacon" and the "diaconate candidate" are one and the same person. He'll just be another in a long line of dissidents and whiners who have a beef against the Church.
This glory hound is just like other Catholic dissidents [Curran, Chittister, McBrien., et.al.]. Instead of staking out on their own, they stay and cause scandal and preach error. And even if they won't admit it, they try to destroy the Church because it just won't bend to their desires and point of view. They hide their need for attention behind their activism: "Look at me. The Dinosaur Media thinks I'm important! And so should you." The"you" being bishops with a backbone and other faithful Catholics. And if they're are enough useful idiots in agreement with them, they'll get their more than 15 minutes of fame...Unfortunately.
Regardless, I hope the "former deacon's" ethno-centrism blows up in his face. Like I wrote before, he should revert to some native, pre-Hispanic religion with all its indegenous gods. Instead of worshiping in a religion that has a Jewish Messiah as its founder.
