When asked about the possibility of parishioners trying to bar Ospina's entry again, [spokesman for the Raleigh Diocese, Frank] Morock said, "We hope that they will" allow him to enter his church. WHAT!? Who in the hell is in charge around here? I happen to know personally of a different priest in this deanery that openly preaches heresy and disobedience, and diddly squat has happened. As much as I disagree with a certain priest within my own grid square, I would never dream of locking him out of his own church or physically threatening him... even if this guy doesn't even believe in his own priesthood, but that's another story.
But these friggin' CRIMINALS down in Red Springs lock a loyal and faithful priest out of his own church, and the best we can count on from the diocesan spokesman is "we hope that they will"? This is BULLSHIT! And yes, I'm pissed. If you can imagine the anger in my voice as you read this, then good. I''ve accomplished what I've set out to do.
Anyhow, has anyone ever heard of the RICO Act? If anyone forgot or is unfamiliar with, it's my understanding that the RICO Act is an anti-organized crime law that can (among other things) prosecute mobsters who forcibly restrict individuals or groups from their legal and rightful place of work so illegal activity can take place there instead. It was a bastardization of the RICO Act that the abortion butchers used against pro-life protesters whenever there was a prayer vigil in front of any given abortuary.
And it's bad enough that this gang of thugs have kept this priest from his rightful place of work... but now we have this mealy mouthed, gutless "statement" from the Diocese? "Hope they will...", my ass.
You gotta be shittin' me. Damn it... I am so PISSED OFF over this! You know, I know of a family here in the Wilmington area who didn't see eye-to-eye with Fr. Ospina on a number of issues, and even they say that what's happening to Fr. Ospina is wrong. And you know, this isn't *just about* Father Ospina. It's about every Catholic priest in this diocese. We're at a crossroads here. If these hoodlums are further placated, count on it being open season here on Catholic priests. Anyone with the slightest disagreement or imagined slight will take it upon themselves to barricade themselves in the local parish. Imagine Martin Luther meets Che Guevara.
If anyone honestly believes these illegals, who have already proven that they have no intention of following the laws of this country, are somehow magically going to follow the laws of The Church... their living in a Pollyanna dream world. You folks just keep on playing The Glad Game.
Maybe now they'll realize that the reward for years of kissing illegals asses will be the very real eventuality of being bit dead on the ass yourself. It may take weeks, months, even years. But it'll happen.
There's only one sure-fire way to deal with incorrigible, snotty brats - a good, old fashioned taking-behind-the-woodshed-and-blister-their-asses session. Case in point: The Diocese of Raleigh. The gauntlet's been thrown down, now we'll see if that crosier is just a decorative accessory or if it serves a useful purpose.

I don't understand all this pandering to the Mexicans - legal or illegal. Oh, silly me - might it be money and votes? Duh!
We get our local piece of carp diocesan newspaper and it's half in Spanish. WTH - I live in Idaho not Mexico. If the church wanted to do the right thing they would teach them to speak English post haste, so they could avail themselves of being full members of the economic aspects of society.
Besides which - 99% of them speak English anyway but refuse to.
I look forward to seeing what the Bishop has to say about this. Time for some wall to wall counseling.
Hmm..... I think His Grace could use this invention by Dr. Lee. Maybe, then he'll whip out a can of whoopa*s and spritz some episcopal correction over those those spoiled, Marxist-LibTheo brats.
Take it from someone watching St. Stanislas in St. Louis from a distance:
If the hoodlums 'take' the parish from the Bishop's authority, they'll get what they deserve.
And the Bishop better consider who he's really dealing with.
(I have some very sad relatives who can't bring themselves to go back to our family's historic church. It's really sad.)
I've read your praises of your current bishop. Isn't this place in his diocese or has he let political correctness and fear of being called ("gasp") anti-Latino cost him his testosterone-producers? Whoever the bishop is, he ought to take a hint from the Bishop Waters (RIP) mentioned above and go down there in person. All he has to tell them all sacraments will be denied to them until they let his priest back into the church, and excommunications will be next.

Yes, I have done zero posts that are critical of Bishop Burbidge. Many good things have happened under his fairly short tour of duty.
But I will say that he is now faced with one helluva leadership challenge in this little drama playing out in Red Springs.
The actions (or hopefully not, inactions) that His Excellency take in regards to Father Ospina will have far reaching effects to every diocese in the United States.
Now's the time where we see the example of either;
a. a true Shepherd of Christ.
b. a political opportunist.
No mattter what Bishop Burbidge does, he's going to piss someone off. There is no win-win situation here, regardless how much spin is put on it.
With that said, it's obvious, to me anyhow, that he should do the right thing and support one of his own priests who hasn't done anything wrong.

As I've already stated, I personally know Fr Ospina. It's irrelevant if he's a nice guy, personable, aloof, etc, etc. (personally, I think he does need to work on his "people skills"), but that's irrelevant. Is he a good priest or a good social worker? As I've previously stated, I've had "disagreements" with him in the past... but even the folks who are still uber-upset with him (rightfully so) here in the Wilmington area, agree that what the mob did in Red Springs has big time crossed the line.
It's amazing, FAB. The family here in Wilmington that Fr Ospina hurt the most, is also the same family that's praying the hardest for him. As the (Traditionalist)wife and mother of that rather large crew said to me, "Kevin, if God can forgive him, so can I".

Now, the Cure of Ars did look on the bright side, like Pollyanna.
Of course, he also punched out one of his flock to knock some sense into him, but you fit the treatment to the particular sickness. :)
Anyway, this isn't the first rebellion in a parish and it won't be the last, but letting this sort of thing stand has never been the right option.
