Following a testy exchange during Wednesday’s briefing with White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, veteran White House correspondent Helen Thomas told CNSNews.com that not even Richard Nixon tried to control the press the way President Obama is trying to control the press.
“Nixon didn’t try to do that,” Thomas said. “They couldn’t control (the media). They didn’t try.
“What the hell do they think we are, puppets?” Thomas said. “They’re supposed to stay out of our business. They are our public servants. We pay them.”

If Helen Thomas is refusing to drink the Kool Aid maybe there's some hope.
All I have heard from the televised national media, especially CBS, is that Obama is the equivalent of the Second Coming if not the Second Coming Himself!
I thought "W"'s first press secretary was terrible, but this guy is the absolute worst. Ever noticr how he tries to laugh off, ignore, or deflect every tough question about his boss' latest bonehead manuever?
I saw this face off & thought to myself, if you have Helen Thomas mad then Obama is in big trouble.
But even helen Thomas doesn't have the power she once had so, I doubt if there will be much change on either side.
That little old lady is a Marine bull dog! 89 years old and still feisty . . . I mean mean! :-)
Hopefully, Helen Thomas is just the start. She's sort of broken the seal, as it were, vocalizing what the rest of the press corps was already thinking anyway. Now that she's done it, more of the WH press corps may follow suit.
Pray for her good health, especially over these next 4 years!
