And Just How Quick Will Our Own Priests And Bishops Tell Rome To Go To Hell?
Ahhh... another 'Spirit of Vatican II' moment
I found this rather terse article from CatholicCulture.org to be rather interesting. Interesting in the sense that most clerics around the world will ignore it... and even worse, not a damn thing will happen to the. I really do hope to God I'm wrong.Top Vatican official confirms: no Communion for abortion proponents
July 24, 2009
Cardinal Antonio Canizares Llovera, the prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, has reiterated that politicians who support legal abortion should be barred from receiving Communion. Because these individuals are engaged in gravely sinful behavior, the Spanish prelate told LifeSite News, it would be an act of charity for a priest to withhold Communion, preventing them from blasphemous reception of the Eucharist.

Caves, I, too, certainly hope your wrong.
Perhaps it would just take one priest with enough colionies to deny a pro-abortion politician the Holy Eucharist; it then makes the news, and the arguments start - really starts - in the "public square". The pressure for others to effect the same would build, and so on.
However, what disheartens me is that this is effectively what happened before the commission of the abomination at Notre Dame earlier this year. A few bishops spoke out (not harshly enough in my opinion), and others, but not all of them did, and now this whole fiasco has more or less been forgotten - just another story in the news cycle (yet it is still my opinion that divine retribution is due to those who facilitated that heinous offense against Our Lady).
It would be so excellent if Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ, the Lord of History, would send down another St. Paul to set off a storm. I very much like St. Paul because he caused a riot where ever he went.
I have this hypothetical picture in my head. The setting is one of the non-productive, boring and bureaucratical USCCB or CCCB Conferences. And then, out of the blue, some holy bishop or priest or nun, stands up on the centre table and says: "Hey kids, Vatican II playtime is over! Come back inside the house or else be subsumed by the spirit of the word". Thereafter a riot ensues... chairs go flying, kicks in the face, the cops are called, etc.
If such an event occurred, I would get a six pack, grab a pack of smokes, and be glued to the TV for hours...
Cavey, you need to edit this post and close the bold you opened. There's a missing [/b] or [/strong] tag somewhere.
And I have to use those brackets instead of the right ones because of how blogger's combox handles html.
Ark,
Thanks for pointing this out, but I just went through the HTML with a fine tooth comb, and I can see an unopened bracket.
On my browser, the posting looks fine. Hmmm.... this is a strange one.
