But this is ridiculous
As we all know by now, Hawaii is getting it's missile defense beefed up in preparation to North Korea making a lot of noise about it's nuclear missiles. But Hawaii already has 16 of the Navy's 18 Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense-equipped ships are assigned to the Pacific Fleet, in other words, either in or relativly close to Hawaiian waters.
With all that said, according to this source, check out the distances -Distance from Pyongyang, North Korea to Honolulu, Hawaii is 4631.7 Miles
Distance from Pyongyang, North Korea to Anchorage, Alaska is 3750.6 Miles
Distance from Pyongyang, North Korea to Adak, Alaska is 2873.5 Miles So why does Hawaii rate the added protection? Oh... wait, I know. The boyhood part-time hometown of a certain Barack Hussein Obama is --- wait for it --- Honolulu, Hawaii.

I suppose 1 could say that, given the population it would be more logical for N. Korea to attack Hawaii than Alaska.
Never mind the damage that could be done by destroying the Alaskan Pipeline & the North Slope. But gee, wee know that Kim would never do anything to harm that pristine environment & risk the wrath of environmentalists everywhere (heavy sarcasm).
However, I think your logic makes the most sense, given it is Barry we are dealing with.
It's truer than you think -- the Zero is shutting down a quarter (or was it a third) of our defensive missile silos in Alaska. I think the same story (on the radio) said it's where he's offsettnig the money for the Cash for Clunkers progam.
In 2002, when I was still living in Alaska, I had a very vivid dream about a missile attack on Alaska from Korea. I watched in horror as these warheads smashed into the ground and into (or very near to?) a river. I woke up right in the middle of an earth quake after-shock and bolted to my feet screaming to my roomates, "WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!!"
I dismissed that dream as just something weird but now I'm seriously beginning to wonder...
I grew up under Site Summit, a missile silo emplacement just outside Anchorage. We felt fairly nervous as targets of the Soviets, but by the same token, we were within 10 minutes drive from an Air Force and an Army base, so in that sense I figured we would at least be defended.
Obama is an ass. In war, Hawaii might be handy for strategic purposes, but if the enemy wants to do some serious damage in a hurry, AK is the place to strike. Was that way even before the pipeline--AK has a very high military presence.
Oh, and Adak is no longer a Navy emplacement, but Shemya (which you probably won't see on any map) is still quite active as an Air Force base and home to the AWAK's. It's also much closer to Attu and Kiska, both attacked and occupied during WWII.
But you can't expect an ass like Obama to know or care about any of that. He just wants to be sure he can spend his breaks on the beach at home.

I think you got this one wrong. If he were trying to protect his boyhood home, it would be Kenya. He is sending the protection to Hawaii because they know the truth about his birth certificate. It is commonly called blackmail. Look for Hawaii to get a lot from Barry.
Gotta protect those pineapples.
