Italian Rabbis Angry At Pope For Being Catholic
Tango Sierra, Bubbie!
Going on 50 years of convergance instead of conversions, the writing is becoming clearer and clearer to Rome. Specifically, the "Spirit" of Vatican II as an experiment in neo-Protestantism is an absolute and utter flop, and juuuuuust maybe, Pope John Paul II really wasn't all that "Great" after all.
Here's an interesting post from Rorate-Caeli; (Emphasis and comments mine)In Jesuit magazine, Chief-Rabbi of Venice:
The Pope has cancelled 50 years of Church History The Jesuit (!) monthly Popoli (January 2009 issue) opened its pages for Elia Enrico Richetti, Chief-Rabbi of Venice, who severely criticizes the Holy Father and blames him (especially his liberalization of the Latin Mass and his reformed Prayer for the Jews on Good Friday) for the suspension of dialogue between Italian rabbis and the Church. The suspension was unilaterally declared by the rabbis.
The Assembly of Rabbis of Italy has made known that, at least for this year, there will be no collaboration between the Jewish Communities of Italy and the Catholic institutions for the celebration of the Day of Judaism (January 17). It is the logical consequence of a particular moment which the inter-Confessional dialogue is living today, a moment in which the signs began to appear when the Pope, by liberalizing the Latin Mass, indicated in the Tridentine Mass the norm to follow. In that formulation, in the prayers of Good Friday, there is a prayer which asks for the conversion of the Jews to the "truth" of the Church (did you get that? It is a prayer that asks for conversion. Unlike the moslems, I don't recall Catholics calling for the beheading of Jews. And by the way, don't Jews pray for the conversion of all non-Jews to their belief? Am I the only one who sees the hypocracy?) and to faith in the salvific role of Jesus. In truth, that prayer, which, in its first wording defined the Jews as "perfidious", that is "outside the faith" and blind, had already been "changed" (but never abolished) by John XXIII. Benedict XVI expunged from it the most offensive terms, and reintroduced it. (No.... "perfidious" means unbelieving. If any given Jew, Hindu, Buddhist... whatever... deems it right to refer to me as perfidious to their beliefs, so what? Am I suppose to be offended?)
It is not, therefore, a matter of hypersensitivity: it is in the most banal sense about the respect owed to the other as a creature of God. If to that we add the most recent positions taken by the Pope regarding the worthiness of dialogue, defined as useless because in every case the superiority of the Christian faith is clear (and your point being?), it is evident that we march towards the cancellation of the past fifty years of the history of the Church (Thank God!). From this point of view, the interruption of the collaboration between Italian Jewry and the Church is the logical consequence of the ecclesiastical mindset expressed by its supreme authority.

So will the Magisterium be allowed to make changes to the Talmud that reflect badly on Jesus? If Jews can change Christianity than can we change Judaism?
Two way street, no?
Who does the Pope think he is? Catholic?
Deo Gratias! No more Spirit of VII
Hey! Who died and made the Catholic Church king?
Oh, wait.....
In a sense you have to admire these pharisees. I mean they have spunk.
However on the other hand you have to be a complete moron to be all disjointed by a prayer for a peaceful conversion. Yet not utter a word about the jihadists who would cut thier nuts off just for looking at them the wrong way.
The real fear they have is the fact that a reinstitution of true tradition would spell doom as many of thier followers would be converted. Deep down they know this, and we do too!
WE GONNA GIT U SUCKA!
All they want is to RULE Rome as they do the world. In their stubborn egotistical pride, they continue to fail in facing the Truth. Because they think they have (or want to have) the Keys to the Kingdom; not the jewish Catholic St. Peter.

Nice sentiment, that one. (rme)
With this single statement: and juuuuuust maybe, Pope John Paul II really wasn't all that "Great" after all. you just became my hero!
TRT,
Thanks! I do try!
