A judge has provoked controversy in Australia by ruling that a 12-year-old girl could begin the first phase of a sex change. The unnamed girl has begun hormone treatment to block puberty after a judge accepted an application from her mother for her to begin to reassign her gender.
A family court judgment said it was important to act quickly to prevent the onset of puberty as the girl dreaded the prospect of menstruation and developing breasts, and had threatened self-harm.
It was reported yesterday that during a hearing in December, the court heard that the girl from Victoria had thought of herself as a boy since the age of four. Several medical experts, including a psychiatrist, backed her application for a sex change.

It really makes you wonder what happened to her at the age of 4. How sad!!

It makes sense--if you buy of on bio-medical definition of what's approriate, and don't give a damn about what's right for this kid, and don't care about the fact that this can never be undone.
It makes sense, if you think people are just things, that can be manipulated at will, with no more consequence than experimenting on a rhesus monkey.
You know, there was a couple in Minnisota, in the 80's, who made "unicorns" by moving the hornbuds of goats when they were young, so they would creat a single horn on the forehead, spiraled together. They were taken to court and fined for cruelty and unatural experimentation. But you can do this to kids, in OZ or here.
The doctors who do this say the results are much better at 12 than at 21--but what result? The surgery and hormonal treatment, or the sould after the treatment is over?

I've imagined myself being a millionaire ever since I was a kid - how come no one's ever given me millions of dollars?
I agree with Kit - more disgusting than I care to imagine.
this is beyond stupid, or any other word that I can think of....
And what happens in 10 years when she is unhappy her puberty was supressed? Will she sue her mother? I hope the judge and medical "experts" are liabel.
This is state-sanctioned child abuse, plain and simple.
Every cell in her "girl" body if you checked the DNA would be female. Even if she is pumped full of male hormones, or attaches male appendages--every cell's DNA still remains female. If her body was found and decomposing to the point of not being able to differentiate male or female--the medical examiner--checking the DNA would pronounce her female.
For all eternity God created her female--and for eternity she will remain female. No matter what her mentally ill mother or doctors do to her.
The hatred of the natural order (and consequently God's order) by this kind of people is appalling.
Dr. Norman Spack has been doing the same this at Boston's Children Hospital. The end has to near, people....How much more is Our God going to take?
