UPDATE!!!
I'll admit it... I screwed up
I've just deleted a posting I did earlier today in which I unfairly stated some rather critical things about Bishop D'Arcy of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, Indiana. I was under the impression that Bishop D'Arcy was weakly speaking out against the University of Notre Dame for allowing the play The Vagina Monologues on campus.
Well, Jay over at Pro Eccelsia has correctly pointed out that this particular story is more than a year old, and since then, Notre Dame is cleaning up it's act.
So with all that said, I apologize to Bishop D'Arcy and anyone else I may have mislead into believing that he was weak on the nonsense that was taking place (at the time) on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.
Looks like Mrs. Caveman will be getting her bumper sticker after all.

Maybe serious Catholics could stop supporting Notre Dame football and boycott its broadcast advertisers. That would send a strong message.
I'm torn on this one, Patrick.
On one hand, I can't see myself supporting an institution that kowtows to pro-abortion politicians, etc.
But on the other, is it fair to hold the Athletic Department accountable for the actions of the slackers in Administration and/or the Theology Department?
But in all fairness, I'm starting to lean in the direction of your suggestion.
The story on Bishop D'Arcy and Notre Dame is almost a year-and-a-half old. Since then, if I'm not mistaken, the ND Administration has kicked the Monologues to the curb.
Dave Hartline at The Catholic Report has a fairly glowing report of the direction in which Our Lady's University is now heading.
The V Monologues have NOT been kicked to the curb. (ND's president wussed out.) But, this was not due to any lack of trying or fortitude on the part of Bishop D'Arcy. For years, he has been consistently and tirelessly working to improve the conditions at ND. I have this on good authority from both former and current students as well as a rock solid orthodox priest who is a member of the faculty.
President Jenkins did wuss out in 2006, and Bishop D'Arcy and several prominent members of ND's faculty (including, surprisingly, Fr. McBrien) took Jenkins to task over it.
But I was under the impression that the play was not performed at ND this past year. I could be wrong about that, however.
Wait folks, the BISHOP can't prevent this stuff in Catholic institutions?! That's hard for me to understand because in the Odox church the bishops have the final say on everything. They don't even think twice about shutting institutions and parishes down for crossing the line into heresy.
Something is seriously wrong if the Bishop lacks the authority to kicked the VM to the curb.
