An interesting little story from The Scotsman, entitled Papal aide warns of 'Islamisation of Europe'. Hey sports fans... is the writing on the wall any clearer? A resurgent Catholic Church allied with the various Eastern Orthodox (remember when the Pope recently referred to the E.O. as our 'Sister Churches'?), together defending Christian Europe against, as Monsignor Gaenswein put it; Islam not being a single force but a religion of extremes, with extremists who "turn to rifles for their goals".

The principal aide to Pope Benedict XVI has issued a stark warning over the danger of the "Islamisation of Europe". Monsignor Georg Gaenswein speaks with the full authority of the Catholic Church about a Muslim domination of Europe. He made it clear that Europe's Christian roots are under threat from a resurgent Islam. He also spoke of Islam not being a single force but a religion of extremes, with extremists who "turn to rifles for their goals".
His comments come just a year after the newly appointed Pope enraged Muslims worldwide with a speech linking Islam with violence. It led to churches being burned in the West Bank, a nun being shot dead in a Somalian hospital and the Iranian president accusing him of being in league with the US president, George Bush, to "repeat the Crusades" of old.
But Mgr Gaenswein has defended Pope Benedict's speech, saying it was an attempt by the Pontiff to "act against a certain naivety". Vatican watchers say this is clearly aimed at western governments who bend over backwards to accommodate Muslims at cost to their own native Christian cultures.
Now if we can just get the average European to grow a back-bone and actually defend their homeland.

For what it's worth, I recall the terms of Mgr.'s comments differently:
He spoke of "Islam" as ONE thing, but "Islamism" as the 'gun-toting' extreme.
Natch, the AP version is different; but the Monsignor's language is very careful and precise.
You may want to check with authoritative RC sites on the quotes...

No it's time for a wacky conspiracy theory update and It goes like this.
Back in the day a few powerful Jews decide that they wanted their Messiah to come and kick some ass.
In order for that to happen they had to have their country back first. Israel. No Israel no Messaih.
They didn't have an army to go in and drive the Turks out. So they needed someone else to do that for them. At the same time they needed the Jews in Europe to go back Palestine.
Can't have a nation without people there now can you?
Poof. Here comes Stalin then comes Hitler. Both bent on world domination and driving the Jews out of Europe and Asia.
Between the both of them the job get's done. Now all the Jews need is someone to stop these madmen and give the Jews the home that they deserve.
After all, haven't they suffered enough already?
Poof. United Nations says there is an Isreal in 1947.
Only problem now is that the Muslims aren't the enemy that they are cracked up to be. Can't expect a Messaih to come in and save you if you don't need saving.
The Muslims are to busy fighting Christians and Jews to just focus in on Israel.
Now the Jews have to undermine the Christian nations so the Muslims can take them over. Once they take them over they will be able to focus in on Israel.
Then finally when all the chips are down. Messiah comes and saves the day.
It's just the latest theory. Have fun with that.
Amazing how they always feel that they must use violence to show they are a religion of "peace".
