The Great "You Grew Up In The 70's" Checklist...
Bring back any memories?
~ Everyone owned Frampton Comes Alive and Cheap Trick Live at Budokan.
~ Your high school had a smokers section.
~ You remember when relief pitchers didn't run on to the field... they rode out in a golf cart.
~ The Ocean Pacific brand constituted most of your clothing.
~ Not only do you know what "three on the tree" means, your first vehicle was a POS that really had a three on the tree tranny.
~ The Datsun 240-Z was considered the "rich kid" car.
~ White tube socks with the three colored stripes at the top.
~ Ash trays in public restrooms.
~ Place kickers kicked the ball straight on. None of that namby-pamby "soccer style" off to the left, stuff. Where have you gone, George Blanda?
~ Rabbit ears. And you only got three channels. Five on a good day.
~ Major League Baseball had the ugliest uniforms.... ever.
~ "Disco Sucks" bumper stickers.
~ 57 cent a gallon gasoline.
~ You weren't sure if that new running shoe was pronounced "uh-dee-duz" or "ahh-dee-daahz".
~ Rock bands recorded 16 minute drum solos.
~ Those new fangled battery powered calculators that cost well over $100.00
~ Frank Frazetta paintings on vans, most done poorly.
~ Good girls had the Dorothy Hamill hairstyle... easy chicks had the Farrah Fawcett 'do.
~ The cops would allow "the least drunk" guy to drive everyone home.

Yup; I remember most of that.
I must be getting old; last week at the mall, some kid asked me if I was Santa Claus.
That was an interesting retrospect. Others that come to mind:
You remember that there was a legal smoking age but only one store owner in ten observed it when selling cigarettes to minors.
Smoking on planes was expected behavior and every flight included free booze.
You remember two kinds of girls, those who preferred halter tops and those who preferred tube tops - both are rightfully considered trashy now, but you considered them hot at the time.
You've actually been to a roller skating rink.
You remember hearing the Village People for the first time, sight unseen, and asking, "what the heck, are these guys gay?" (remember, the homo culture wasn't forced down everyone's throat at that time...it was almost a mythical thing to most.)
You remember hating Jimmy Carter even before he was elected.
You saved a can of Billy Beer because "some day it would be worth a lot of money".
I can't believe you forgot the MOST IMPORTANT EVENT OF THE 70's and it happened 30 years ago.
STAR WARS
What else was there? Not jack sh*t!!
Seriously though I have a favor for you please: Where can I find a video on the Apparitions of Akita??
Matthew,
Sorry, bro. I wish I did know where I could get a video like that!
Remember the polyester from that decade?
Some of those items on the list definitely remind me of my parents' high school and college yearbooks...
The Boris Vallejo posters were tops, along with the blacklighted Zepplin posters.
