How Many More Have To Die Before We Take Illegal Immigration
Seriously?
Unfortunantly, many more
OK, we're all familiar with the Bill O'Reilly-Geraldo Rivera blowout concerning the illegal alien drunk driver who killed Virginia Beach teen-agers Tessa Tranchant and Allison Kunhardt.
Now it's coming to light that the drunk driver that killed "A Christmas Story" director Bob Clark and his son were, you guessed it... an illegal alien.
But hey... I guess I shouldn't be so harsh. After all, illegal aliens have *only killed 45,625 Americans since 9-11. That's the total number of Americans killed in Iraq multiplied by 15 since September 11th.
*as of Nov, 2006.

I am so disappointed by this posts and the other posters. Are you KIDDING ME?
Are you Catholic or purely American? Because if you are Catholic calling them "beaners" is UNACCEPTABLE. But if you are American than, of course, go a head and reject Church teaching. The Popes and Bishops have been VERY clear on how we are to treat the stranger among us, especially those who are the poorest of the poor.
My ? for you, how many LEGAL Americans are currently in prison for crime? Give me a break. With 20 MILLION immigrants without legal papers here, surely there will be people who commit crime. Surely.
Are you AWARE these people are Catholics? That's right. These are YOUR brothers and sisters in Christ! I worship with them every Sunday at Mass. It is projected that the American Catholic Church will soon be 50% Hispanic. I bet that makes many of you white Catholics VERY uncomfortable.
The right to eat and provide for a family supersedes ANY country's right to a border.
We DO need to mix our LEGAL immigration system. Illegal immigration only profits those who want to save money. But to target those who are here to eat more than one meal a day and who are FELLOW CATHOLICS!
Remember, Jesus Christ was an immigrant and He has some VERY blunt words about the rich. And since, sir, you are a Marine, I am sure you have seen 3rd world Countries, and KNOW you are rich.
Disgusting! And beaners? I am married to BEANER and my inlaws are beaners.
Please, be American, but Catholics? You know, the Hutus were also "Catholic" as they slaughtered their fellow Catholic Tutsis. We are called to worship God not our country!
Radical Catholic Mom,
As someone whoes grandfather's name was Antonio Diaz Perez, and whoes grandmother's name was Estella Pangalenan Perez (and also click on the pic of Fr. Jesus Duenas on the top left of my blog, he was my 2d cousin), I guess it would be safe for me to say that some would ref to me as a "Spic". Oh well, I have nothing to be ashamed of. I'm actually quite proud of my heritage.
But anyway, in the past, I've quoted (here - http://catholic-caveman.blogspot.com/2006/04/why-being-illegal-alien-is-mortal-sin.html - and here - http://catholic-caveman.blogspot.com/2006/11/advocate-breaking-law.html), both Sacred Scripture (the 10 Commandments), as well as 2241 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church to illustrate that illegal aliens are breaking both the laws of God and man.
I understand that you're upset about the "beaner" comment, but you're going to have to take that up with CC.
As for me, I ask that you read those two posts, and then I ask you to comment if you would.
Thanks,
The Caveman
I think the real issue here is why are there so many undocumented immigrants? It reveals serious weaknesses of the legal system.
And sir, if you know anything of Catholic Moral theology, you would know that if a person has to steal in order to eat a meal, the stealing is a lesser offense. The bigger crime is that a HUMAN BEING is hungry.
We are not Protestants. We don't say "A sin is a sin is a sin." We believe in Mortal sins and Venial sins.
Frankly, I am more concerned with the fact that severely poor people cannot legally immigrate to the US.
AND, if Catholic people do not welcome the stranger and serve, literally the poorest of the poor, who will? Who? The Church, when in conflict, takes the side of the poor hands down.
I recommend you do a cursory google search of the Popes and illegal immigration and see what documents pop up. No one advocates keeping the status quo. We DO need change. But we need change that A)meets the needs of the masses of poor people B)is realistic from the U.S. perspective C) allows for the millions of undocumented Catholic people to integrate fully into society.
One more thing,
Shouldn't it be revealing to you that a racist as in the above "beaner" post, feels like your beliefs and her beliefs are compatible?
From all that I have read on your blog, I think you are better than this post.
It reveals serious weaknesses of the legal system.
How true. We have a president that lacks the guts to enforce our own immigration laws. Now THAT'S sad.
if you know anything of Catholic Moral theology, you would know that if a person has to steal in order to eat a meal
Gee, people are dropping dead in Mexico from starvation? I don't remember seeing that one the news. Oh, wait! Now I remember why I didn't see that on the news.... because it ISN'T HAPPENING!!! LOL!!
Face it RCM, I've posted both Sacred Scripture and official Church Teaching, but that hasn't made any difference to you. The ILLEGALS are breaking the laws of God and man, and you have no problem withthat whatsoever. Now THAT'S sad.
As far as Google searches are concerned, I do know what the PERSONAL OPINION of some popes may have been. But like I've said before, I've giving you official Church teaching. And for whatever strange reason, you choose to ignore that.
And as far as the "beaner" post is concerned.... I post plenty of comments that I don't agree with. I don't agree with that certain phrase that CC used, and then again, I don't agree with your arguments in favor of illegal aliens. But have you noticed that I post them all?
I have posted on my site official Church teaching on this matter.
If it comes down to your interpretation versus the Catholic Church's interpretation of the same moral law, I choose the Church. You may want to take the time out to read what the Popes and Bishops have to say since this issue does not only affect the US. If I cannot change your mind, I hope you will allow them to change your mind.
Meanwhile, I have posted a correction on my blog stating that you are not anti-immigration, but anti-illegal immigration. I am sorry. I should have been clear.
