Why Can't It Be Great To Be White?
More liberal hypocrisy
I had an interesting conversation with some co-workers the other day. They was livid that someone actually had the gall to wear a "It's Great To Be White" t-shirt. And of all places... the campus of the local university! Keep in mind that many of my co-workers make Ted Kennedy look like a John Bircher.
Anyhow, I just had to ask them "well, maybe he's proud to be White. That's OK, isn't it?"
And the predictable knee-jerk reactions kicked in.... "That's intolerant! Uninclusive! Not in this day and age!". Blah, blah, blah... wonk, wonk, wonk.
I gently pointed out to my co-workers, if a young Black man wore a shirt proclaiming his ethnic pride... or a Latina sported a button proclaiming the same... wouldn't they be congratulated for being "culturally and ethnically aware"? Predictably, my co-workers agreed.
So then I asked the $64,000 Question, "Can't Whites be proud to be White? I have a 'Celtic Pride' bumper sticker on my truck, as well as a 'Proud To Be Guamanian' license plate frame. Does that make me half racist, and half culturally aware?"
But alas, to no avail. As one of my co-workers said to me, "that shirt is inappropriate because of the history of racism associated with Whites". And I just had to respond, "I thought you liberals were against holding the children accountable for the sins of the fathers. And let's not forget the very real possibility that the White kid in question very well may not have a racist bone in his body. Maybe he just simply is proud to be White."
All I got from there was the deer in the headlights look.

I am afraid, Caveman, that you were engaged in a battle of wits with unarmed opponents.
