Why Are Ya So Angry, Caveman?
I think Peter Finch speaks for all of us
Remember the movie Network? It's the one where Peter Finch's character, Howard Beale, literally laid it on the line on national TV when he shouted "Im mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"
Just to alter that catch phrase just a wee bit, I want to get up on my roof and holler to the world --- "I'm Catholic as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"
Ok, I'll get specific. Do you want to know what it is that I'm not going to take anymore?
1. Those in positions of responsibility who totally trash Church teachings and replace them with outright heresy.
2. Those in positions of responsibility who commit scandal and then have the audacity to attempt to reconcile such with the Teachings of Christ.
3. Those in positions of authority who sit on their hands while heresy and scandal are spread, and do absolutely nothing, and in many cases... condone it.
4. When push comes to shove, I'm fed-up with seeing Holy Mother the Church raped on a daily basis.
You know what... I'm Catholic as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!
How many of you will join with me in taking back our Church from the wolves that scatter the flocks and devour the lambs?

Well, John Kerry calls himself a Catholic as well. How would you define being a catholic: Regular Mass attendance, loyalty to the Magisterium, adherance to the Catechism, obedience to the hierarchy, et cetera ?
I'm Catholic as hell...
Shouldn't that be "I'm Catholic as Heaven..."?
;)
Sign me up buddy!
We need to kick these hippies out!
Me! I am Spartacus!
Well, John Kerry calls himself a Catholic as well.
So? John Kerry can call himself a Cocker Spaniel. That doesn't mean he is one.

Gee, that's a toughie. Let's suffice it to say that standing up to those who preach and/or condone heresy and scandal is usually a good place to start. From there, defending 2,000 years of Catholicism is a safe bet
Shouldn't that be "I'm Catholic as Heaven..."?
(damn... I knew someone was going to call me on that one!!!)
In keeping with the context of phrase, Rick!
Context of the phrase doesn't justify sacrilege. Plus, it's not our Church - it's Christ's. He will take it back, and He will recruit His assistants on His own time.
All theological errors aside, I'm not taking that stuff anymore either. I'll do what I can to help midwife the New Jerusalem.
Lighten up, Peter. You know damn good and well that the context of "as hell" equates to "a lot".
There's no sacrilege.... no theological error. Like I said, lighten up.
and He will recruit His assistants on His own time.
Gee, how do you know that isn't already happeneing? Oh, and by the way, it is our Church. The Holy Gospel of St John, ch 1 says something about 'Sons of God'. Yes, that makes it OUR Church with Christ as it's leader
A number of us on FreeRepublic have formed the Tomas deTorquemada Gentlemen's Club. It is our intention to accomplish two things:
1) Eradication of heretics internal to the Church by the approved TT methods (updated for newer technology, e.g., hydraulics and electricity) and
2) To petition Rome for the beatification of T deT as expeditiously as possible.
We have accumulated several cords of wood and are at your beck and call. We have a Mbrshp Sec'y (yours truly) a Minister of Justice (who actually IS an attorney) and a delightful Ladies' Auxiliary which will provide bon-bons to Members and the spectators at our....ahhhh...events.
Yeah, I got the context thing, Caveman...I just couldn't pass it up...especially when it affords the opportunity to affirm that Heaven is a thoroughly Catholic place.
well if someone was gonna yell "GOTCHYA", I'm glad it was the likes of you, Rick!
BTW, when ya gonna start blogging again? The blogosphere can never have enough snarkey papists!!
