The political version of the USCCB is planning on outlawing such things as parental control of children, homeschooling, and religious education... any of which if the child doesn't first give his or her "approval". I really hate the
Michael Farris, chairman and general counsel of the Home School Legal Defense Association or HSLDA, believes the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child could be binding on U.S. citizens because of activist judges. I really hate the
The HSLDA produced a report in showing that under Article 13, parents could be subject to prosecution for any attempt to prevent their children from interacting with material they deem unacceptable. I really hate the
Under Article 14, children are guaranteed "freedom of thought, conscience and religion," which suggests they have a legal right to object to all religious training. Further, under Article 15, the child has a right to "freedom of association". I really hate the
"If this measure were to be taken seriously, parents could be prevented from forbidding their child to associate with people deemed to be objectionable companions," the HSLDA report explained. I really hate the
Farris pointed out that in 1995 the United Kingdom was deemed out of compliance with the convention "because it allowed parents to remove their children from public school sex-education classes without consulting the child". I really hate the

Caveman, when the slightly more deranged evangelicals talk about the Catholic Church being the Whore of Babylon and the Pope being the Anti-Christ, they remonstrate that of course it fits, because the Catholic Church provides the right hierarchy for Satan and his minions to gain world domination.
really? I always thought the "one world government" of the U.N. is better suited. Have you ever read the book, "Father Elijah" by Michael O'Brien? Forget the stupid "Da Vinci Code", this book is far more frightening to a Catholic because movements like this are aimed at Christians.
The first American President who sends an eviction notice to those clowns along the East River in NYC and turns that building into condos while withdrawing our membership from the car wreck, well, I will go to Washington and kiss his/her hand!
Your VIRileness,
Also, don't forget, the U.N. is also on a mission to try to force the United States to ignore the Second Amendment and confiscate all our personal firearms. Tyrants fear nothing more than an armed populace.
The UN is evil.
They are not going to tell me what to do with my children. If we have to be the only full-time residents of Antarctica, I'm not going to allow my children "freedom of association" with a drug-addled loser.
The U.N. is a case study of how to craft a morality by committee, and have everyone ignore you when that morality is inconvenient. Iraq was really keen on the international navel-gazing before the war, but defiant to U.N weapons inspections. As is Iran.
Look at the Darfur crisis as an example of what fretful hand-wringing by liberals, and purposeful political maneuvering, can accomplish. Squat.
The U.N. requests voluntary accountability to the entire body, but cannot agree on consequences for nations that can't 'play nice'. It's useless, and it's only through the totalitarian subconscious of liberals that it could function.
True, st. jimbob, but is there any way to fight the UN?
Is there any way to ensure I can take my children to mass on Sundays without being in violation of that stupid code? Can I stop my child from hanging around a drug-using, crime-committing thug without violating it? Can I make sure my children get a decent, moral education without getting in trouble for it?
I find it highly ironic that the UN would defend your right to murder your baby via abortion, but once you have that child you surrender all rights to the liberals running around NYC. Complete and utter obsurdity.
Why the hell do their laws usurp our laws when nations like Sudan and Iran can step all over their laws without consequence?
The remedy, in short:
Buy More Ammo!!
So, Caveman, how do you feel about the UN?
I note that abortion didn't make the list of things that a child must consent in advance to being subjected to.
"I note that abortion didn't make the list of things that a child must consent in advance to being subjected to."
Paul, if you could have herad me... I cheered when you said that!
