Sydney auxiliary Bishop Julian Porteous is quoted in The Australian today asserting that Jesus "did not feel constrained by cultural or religious laws of the day, so the choice of men as disciples was deliberate".
Duh.
But I must ponder... are the days of Politically Correct semi-apologies from weak-kneed, Modernist, effeminate Femminist priests over? Sure, the Smoke of Satan crew are no doubt, plenty pissed over this. But hey... screw 'em.

It's fascinating that people who will readily admit that Jesus was willing to say and do things that were shocking to the people of his day cannot imagine that He also said and did things that are shocking today.
