Today I Went To A Novus Ordo Mass
Who's your Savior?

Yeah, that long trek to that certain far-away parish that celebrates the Latin Mass is kinda kickin' me right in the wallet. So The Boss and I decided to check out one of the local parishes just for today. And it certainly didn't disappoint.

No, I won't bring up the ever so strong emphasis on me and us instead of God; I won't bring up the insipid "hymns" that were warbled through; I won't even bring up all the flip-flops, shorts, mini-skirts, men who obviously hadn't shaved or brushed their hair since Friday morning (must maintain that just fell outta bed look, you know). I won't even bring up the young man right in front of us who decided to attend Mass sans footwear.

Nahhh... all that was predictable. We knew from the git-go that reverence, respect and a sense of the sacred would be at a minimum, if there at all.

Here's what did get us --- all the Obama '08 bumper stickers.

The Obamanation's rabid dog support of killing children isn't really all that much of a secret. And still, "Catholics" adhere to Extra Democrat Party Nulla Salus.

  1. the Catholics for Obama website could use you as a commenter. I get so tired of being the only one whose questions and moral points go ignored...

  2. Vir--

I prefer the Ordinary Form--it's more accessible to me. BUT--I had to move 100 + miles to find a parish that celebrated it according to the GIRM, with reverence, a sense of continuity and respect. Not to mention sound preaching. Let's put it this way--todays sermon was about the Eucharist, not "sharing our lunches". This parish also celebrates the Extraordinary Form on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and at 12:30 every Sunday.

The other Option was moving 75 miles in the other direction to attend Mass at a FSSP parish in Indianapolis. I wouldn't live in Indianapolis if you paid me!

Hang in there, brother. And, CUF will help you with the proper references to theological errors and rubrics, if you write your bishop.

  3. "all the Obama '08 bumper stickers"

My sympathy Cavey. I wish I could say I was surprized. I'm not. Sounds like your describing DBQ. This town used to be Catholic, theoretically it still is. I think you can figure out why I say "theoretically".

Sadly, it is only going to get worse in the days & weeks ahead as all the CINO Dems in chanceries & pulpits (figuratively, not literally, since most of them stand/walk elsewhere to give there "homilies".)give all their reasons that abortion should not be the only issue, or even the prime 1.

I can't help but think that Our Lady of Akita is shedding copious tears over what is going on here. Can the coming chastisement be far off?

PS: Keep up the "mocking" of Obama. You know what I mean.

  4. There are only 2 parishes which I will from now on attend NO's, everywhere else IS AN OCCASION OF SIN for me: St. Joseph's in La Puente, St. Therese in Alhambra, these are the only 2 parishes in the Archdiocese of LA which actually have sound preaching, and obey the GIRM to the letter of the Law.
