The Jews and Judaism

There is an excellent book out there titled Salvation is From the Jews, by Roy Schoeman, which I have read twice and would highly recommend to anyone. Mr. Schoeman is a convert to Catholicism, and -- small world! -- his book was presented to me by a very dear friend who was raised in a Jewish family and converted to Catholicism when she was seventeen. Both say that the Blessed Virgin had a great deal to do with their conversion; and both say also, "Becoming Catholic is the most Jewish thing I ever did."; 9:56 PM

Arkanabar Ilarsadin said...: It wasn't the first time the Jews lost the Temple, and like previous times, it was because they rejected their God. But they just couldn't see it. They figured there had to be some idolatry in their practices, and they blamed the Deuterocanon (for which they didn't have originals in Hebrew) and subsequently removed it from the list of accepted Scripture.

And then, 1400 years or so later, Martin Luther found out that the Church and the Jews weren't using the same Scriptures, and he figured that the Jews were less likely to have edited their version -- wrongly, of course.; 7:06 PM

Read carefully. Mr. Kellmeyer does not accuse Mr. Voris of anti-Semitism, but rather, of speaking in a manner that will set off all the "Anti-Semite" alarms in the heads of many Jews.; 9:19 PM
Mary Rose said...: Wow. What a fascinating video. As one who has a heart for Israel and the Jewish people, I never saw the connection of the sacrifice until I viewed this video. That is just amazing.

I can definitely see how some Jews would see Voris' message as being "anti-Semitic," but I would think it would be tough to argue the loss of the temple and ability to make sacrifices and how this changed things dramatically. I'm going to look into this topic further. Thanks for posting it!; 5:23 AM
