LIAR! Part II
I can only imagine the spin the ObaZombies will but on this
From the State of the Union Address;"...we all have a responsibility to support them when they come home. (Applause.) That’s why we made the largest increase in investments for veterans in decades — last year. (Applause.) That’s why we’re building a 21st century VA. And that’s why Michelle has joined with Jill Biden to forge a national commitment to support military families. (Applause.) …"
Wow... a "21st century VA". How's that been working so far, DingleBarry? Here's some of the article from Human Events; I can only imagine the spin the ObaZombies will but on this
From the State of the Union Address;
The Obama administration, which made helping veterans a front-burner issue, botched the debut of the new post-9/11 G.I. bill, leaving thousands of war veterans without tuition aid for months at a time.
The system put in place by the Veterans Administration for the beginning of classes last August could not keep up with applications, even though Congress in 2008 gave the VA a year to get ready.
"The VA was not really ready," Bob Madden, assistant director of economics at the [American] Legion, told Human Events. "They had made it known they weren't necessarily ready for the actual implementation of it. So they did the best they could."
Madden said it was simply taking the VA too long process each claim. "There was a huge backlog that ensued," he said. "Really what happened was most affected veterans were not getting their housing allowance or their book stipend." Computer systems were no integrated. There was not enough employees to do the paperwork.
Vets went to the Legion. "I'm going to get evicted. I can't pay my mortgage. I've been in school three months and I haven't received a housing allowance yet," said Madden, recalling the complaints.
If that wasn't bad enough, the VA decided to only field students phone calls three days a week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It recently relented and added Thursday and Friday.
"Obviously, there were a few bumps in the road. Unfortunately the veterans had to pay the price for that and were kind of put out for that. But eventually, they are rectifying the situation."

and Michelle and Jill have done such a great job supporting military families that DoD recently froze the program that helped pay for schooling for military spouses pursuing degrees, (like my wife.) The program was frozen on no notice while spouses awaited funding for their schools.
Every night lately, my daughters have asked me to read Rudyard Kipling poems to them, for some reason I keep reading and re-reading "Tommy."
Chuck 'im out, the brute.
I have a long history with the DVA--bad history!
I'm rated as 50% disabled, service connected.
Trying to get timely medical care during emergencies is almost impossible. Like, it's 50 miles to a VA hospital, 911 gets called, and you go to the ER. Then DVA says it wasn't needed and you have to pay it all back--even the chest tube for the popped lung and the staples in the head to stop the bleeding.
Then of course, there was the letter: Hey! we over-compensated you for years and years, and just noticed--it's your fault, you know, even though you filled out your forms right. So now, we're going to cancel your pension for a year and a half to collect the overpayment. Good luck in the depression".
Once, with a cut up hand, I went to the VS hospital in Louisville KY. They wouldn't treat me. I was shunted from office to office. Finally, on my third trip to an office where I was treated as an interupption, I simply let go of the improvized pressure dressing on my hand, and bled all over the desk. I was certified as eligible (I HAD my VA card with me!)in 30 seconds, and soon had my 18 stiches and the bleeding controlled. Of course, I was told to take my own stitches out in 10 days. (On my hand? how was I supposed to do that?) My son-in-law, a national Guard medic did it for me. (His squad leader watchech and counted it as training time!)
