WASHINGTON (SR) - President Barack Obama has directed the Pentagon to replace the "don't ask, don't tell" policy with one that will allow openly gay men and women to serve in the military. Defense Secretary Robert Gates and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, will present details of the plan to U.S. lawmakers next Tuesday.

I don't think that the 69th Infantry of the New York State National Guard would like that logo. The Fighting 69th has served with distinction from pre-Civil War days (as the 9th Infantry Regiment) through Operation Iraqi Freedom and Afghanistan.
... and was a pretty kick-ass Jimmy Cagney movie.
Don't forget Pat O'Brien's character, Fr. Francis P. Duffy, a Catholic priest who is famous in the NYC area. In fact there is a statue of him in his honor in NYC in Times Square.
Those were the days even in Protestant America when a Catholic priest was treated with respect.
