Marines Turn Over Iraq To Army And The Iraqis
'bout time

This Saturday, The United States Marine Corps will officially be done with Iraq and turning it all over to the Army, as they should. Occupation Duty has never been the job of The Corps. Killing bad guys is.

Here's a bit of the article from Fox News;
First Wave of U.S. Forces Leave Iraq
Saturday, January 16, 2010

AL-ASAD, Iraq — The base loudspeaker no longer wakes them up with calls for blood donors; armored trucks sit idle in neat rows. The U.S. Marines who stood at some of the bloodiest turning points of the Iraq war are packing up and leaving.

"The security and stability that exists here is well within the means of the Iraqi security forces to maintain," Maj. Gen. Rick Tryon, the Marine commander in Iraq, said in a recent interview. "You don't need United States Marines to do this at this point. So it's time, and it's timely."

Besides, he added: "Afghanistan is calling."
And from talking to many young Marines up in Lejeune, I can assure the American people that these Warriors just can't wait to get to Afghanistan and dispatch the enemy to their oh-so-well-deserved incendiary eternal reward.

The Deadliest Weapons on the Face of the Earth.

"You talkin' to me?"

The Few, The Proud, The Marines.

Just figured out how to win the war almost immediately.

Since Muslims believe they won't go to their 72 virgins if gassed to death, then ... why hasn't anybody thought of this before ... send in algore to give a speech.

I love that line - "Occupation Duty has never been the job of the Corps. Killing bad guys is."

And this one - "dispatch the enemy to their oh-so-well-deserved incendiary eternal reward."

Thanks, Caveman! Thanks, Marines!

Thank God, our beloved Marines are leaving Iraq. The damned place isn't worth the death of one Marine . . . or any American, in uniform our out.

As far as the Iraqi security forces being able to shoulder the load. Hah! I don't believe it. The cynic in me observes that the U.S. has bought off the Sunni insurgents for a temporary peace. I predict full scale civil war among Sunnis, Shiites, and (Islamic) Kurds will break out when the U.S. forces completely leave Iraq with the Iraqi Christians again getting hosed royally!

On a less cynic and pessimistic side note, I have grown accustomed to looking at the USMC's new utilities (or BDUs, whatever they are called). Cavey, have you seen the Navy ones. Ycccch!

You're right about Marines as occupiers. There appropriate mission is rounds on target.

The Marines deserve the greatest respect: They go where they are needed, they get down to work, they don't whine and complain when things get rough, they stand up to the challenge and get the job done. I wish my brother priests could be more "marinelike".
