Ireland... IRELAND!!??
THIS is coming from the Cradle of Vocations?
Yes, things have degraded that bad on once Catholic Ireland. Sometimes, to repair a building, you have to tear it down to it's foundation and start all over again.
But the problem in Ireland, they have the same incompetent nincompoops as the architects.

Famed Irish priest: Halt recruitment to priesthood
August 24, 2009
Faulting the Irish hierarchy’s response to the recent Ryan Report-- which documented systemic abuse in educational institutions-- called upon the Church to cease recruiting men for the priesthood. “The Church must halt recruitment, reform and reorganize, then begin again,” said Father Aidan Troy. “Instead it says ‘this abuse is awful’ but continues its old failed ways. We have a broken, wounded Church and those wounds are self-inflicted.”
Father Troy gained fame in Belfast in 2001 for his defense of Catholic schoolchildren in the face of Loyalist attacks.

So what does he mean by "old failed ways"?
Is he talking about the "spirit of Vatican II" mentality that overhauled the liturgy and attempts to make sins into "previously unknown virtues"? Because these are the attitudes that caused the abuse - people with no respect for celibacy and vocation taking up vocations and doing damage.
Or, more to my guess, is he hoping that we'll embrace a "diverse" priesthood with womenpriests and other such nonsense? Because he's obviously not paying attention - traditional orders are thriving.
I have read the link and the links in the link and I can find no specifics on "old failed ways." This doesn't mean necessarily that Fr. Troy is advocating things that go against Church teaching such as female priests, etc.
In light that the Church in Ireland has been at the forefront of embracing the Spirit of Vatican II for the past few decades, I take that is to his meaning of "old failed ways".
What old fialed ways. The old fialed ways which i who was bron in Vatican II era have run back to? the Latin Mass, yes please lets get back to that. The fialed ways are the novus ordo when said badly, when the mass is looked at as a meal and not as a real encounter with Jesus Body Blood Soul and Divinity.
I would love to take a poll at the 2 churches i go to, one is orthodox the other not so. I would like to poll the parishioners on what it is they think they are receving.
