Rabbi causes laugh riot. Story posted below
Here's some of the article from The Jewish Chronicle (of the UK); Emphasis mine.Pope’s man to face fury over ‘convert’ text

The Pope’s British envoy is to visit West London Reform Synagogue on Shabbat amid what its rabbi calls the “most acute crisis” in Jewish-Catholic relations in the past 20 years. Rabbi Mark Winer will publicly bring up the controversy sparked by the Pope’s endorsement of a Good Friday prayer which openly calls for the conversion of the Jews.
Archbishop Faustino Sainz Muñoz, the Apostolic Nuncio, is due to preach at the synagogue’s Shabbat morning service and to take part in a post-kiddush discussion with Rabbi Winer.
In the draft of an address to be delivered tomorrow, Rabbi Winer says that “expressions of Jewish anger” over the prayer “have reached a level I do not recall in my lifetime of dialogue, as a rabbi, with the Catholic Church. Rabbinical bodies in some countries have forbidden their rabbis from participating in dialogue with representatives of the Holy See. Antisemitic riots and incidents have occurred in more than a few places.” First off, I seriously doubt if anywhere at the Shabbat service, that Jesus Christ is going to be mentioned at all. So with that said, why in the hell is Archbishop Sainz Muñoz "preaching" at it? Unless he's trying to convert the assembled Jews, I suggest he read up on a lil' something along the lines of "no man goes to The Father but through Me". Surely, the good Archbishop isn't going to pray directly to God The Father, and ignore Jesus Christ, is he? Let's hope not.
Secondly, and more in line with this article, can someone please inform me where all these "anti-semitic riots and incidents" have taken place, other than Rabbi Winer's fevered imagination? Also, are there no Jewish prayers that non-Jews will convert to Judaism? If not, that doesn't say a whole helluva lot about Judaism. But I'll bet there are such prayers. Oh, wait a second... I can smell the hypocrisy of Rabbi Winer & Friends already!
Lastly, if anyone is under the impression that this posting is an open invitation to rail against Jews simply because they're Jews... you're wrong. As I've made no secret of in the past, anyone who knowingly, willingly and intelligently refutes Christ and The One True Catholic Church that He gave to us, those individuals most certainly will never gain Eternal Salvation. But in the meantime, were suppose to pray for the conversion of the Jews, not their condemnation.
Illiterate inbred crackers can just keep walking.

these are Reform jews, which are the modernist, Spirit of V2 types of Judaism
And it's my understanding (perhaps flawed; I reserve always the right to be wrong) that while Jews pray for the day that everyone recognizes their G-d as supreme and the only one there is, they don't pray for Gentiles to convert. I think that this is because they recognize their religion as being about G-d's relationship with His chosen people, and those who aren't of Israel don't sin by not complying with all the laws He made for Israel.
Personnaly, I don't like the idea that whatever we do, we must be railed at. It's reached the point, that unless we just disappear, some facet of the gosple offends someone or other who demands and apology.
On the bright side, when it finally gets violent, I may get some time off purgatory for what ever the "opposition" does to me!
By all means--pray for the conversion of the Jews, and hope for the very best for them. If they don't like it, well, We pray for athiests and communists too.
ATI,
Very interesting perspective.
IR,
Yep... and we pray for pagans and heretics, too!! (but you already know that!)
Jews don't seek out converts. The stated reason for this is that Jews are held (by God) to a higher standard than Gentiles.
This site: http://www.jewfaq.org/gentiles.htm#Conversion has information on all things Hebrew.
Now, as to the anti-semitic riots, I'm guessing they only happen in places Islamic.
