San Francisco, It's Not The Only Freak Show In Town

Donchya just love it? Here's some of the article from PewSitter.com; (Emphasis mine) CATHOLIC DIOCESE CONDONES PURDUE PARISH PRESENCE AT OUTOBERFEST

Washington, D.C. (20 October 2008) – An American Life League supporter and Purdue University student is taking the Diocese of Lafayette, Indiana to task for condoning St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church's participation, along with Planned Parenthood of Indiana, in OUToberfest 2008, a gay pride event.

Naomi Whittaker, ALL supporter and senior neural biology and physiology major at Purdue University, wrote to the diocese Oct. 10 expressing concern over the OUToberfest 2008: Tippecanoe County Pride Celebration to be held Oct. 11. The event marked National Coming Out Day.

"I respectfully request that St. Thomas Aquinas be held responsible to the teachings and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church, Whittaker requested in the letter, "Please let me know if there is anything more I can do to protect the sanctity of the Catholic Church's teachings,".

On Oct. 13, Bishop William L. Higi responded to Whittaker through Rev. Msgr. Robert L Sell.

"…the participation of the parish was in conjunction with other Christian Churches of the area who were reaching out in solidarity to homosexual persons as children of Our Loving God." Sell said. "He (the parish pastor) assured me that this effort was not condoning a particular lifestyle or choice, but was seeking to join other Christian Denominations who participated in the event in an effort to demonstrate to homosexual persons the outreach and concern that our Faith has for them."

American Life League has written to request the diocese issue a written statement to dispel confusion over the Catholic Church's teaching on abortion and homosexuality.

"It is absolutely outrageous for a Catholic church to stand alongside Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider, and give implicit endorsement of an event and lifestyle antithetical to the Catholic faith," said Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League.

Among the registered participants at the event, St. Thomas Church, the parish serving Purdue University, was listed alongside Planned Parenthood of Indiana, Purdue Queer Student Union, Pride Lafayette, Inc., and Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays among others.

The event featured a drag show and a myriad of gay and lesbian workshops for children.

There's the stinking problem, everytime a Catholic group of any kind gets into the "let's be so ecumenical, I'm okay and you're okay" mindset, you can watch any pretense of being definitively Catholic go right out the window.

I saw this firsthand years ago when a number of black churches were torched (remember that?). I was a Pentecostal at the time and was sent to represent my church at a meeting of the local faiths to get together and speak out against these acts. As part of the public event that was to be put on by this group all the participating churches were to have their reps speak on a stage with some sort of a prayer. Since the thing included Jews and the Banai Brith all mention of Jesus was scrubbed by the rabbi vetting the submitted prayers.

The Catholic rep went through contortions to edit a New Testament passage so the name of Christ wasn't there.

My own church bowed out, Pentecostals can be pretty hard nosed on that sort of thing and we weren't going to play. I got to be the one to tell the rabbi the name of Christ in our prayer (as well as asking for an end to the evil of abortion) weren't up for discussion. He wasn't too pleased with us. Tough shit.

Interestingly enough, we were told that same rabbi got up and delivered a long prayer in Hebrew. Nobody had to vet HIS input!

  2. So I guess Msr. Sell(out) thinks that participating in events that feature drag queen shows and gay and lesbian workshops for children are "reaching out" to the homosexual community with christian kindness.

OK, I think I am on board, so long as we start also reaching out to the KKK, NAZI, and Scientologists in the same manner. I mean just because someone is going to do a cross burning doesn't mean we shouldn't reach out to that community. After all we need to give them lovin', healin', and tenderness of Jesus don't we??

I tell you why they reach out, BECAUSE THERE IS MONEY TO BE HAD. Sorry I have to say it but that is what it looks like to me. I'll shut up now.

What a bunch of sick perverts!
The thought that these activities are allowed by society boggles the mind.

  4. If it didn't say Indiana I would have thought this was New Orleans & Mardi Gras.

This was not outreach, this event was clearly a statement in support of their lifestyle. & by what he said, Bishop Higi basically betrayed his office. He is 75 & God willing, he will soon be replaced with a Bishop that won't support this sort of thing.

  5. It used to be that the spectacle of a priest on his knees was edifying... .

And you can bet that there is a sodomite priest behind this.

Indiana is a very conserfative state--except for it's Catholics. That's why I have to go out of state to find a reverent Mass.

  6. What in the he*# us a gay and lesbian workshop for children? Don't people burn in hell for all eternity for that sort of thing? Somebody should remind the Bishop--seems like his STD's have bored holes in his brain or something.

    Millstones for all of them.

  7. Please contact the "church". They have done many acts like this and they need to be stopped.

    Thanks!
