Why fear what doesn't exist?
As I've posted a few times in the past, every so often, a Com-Box posting takes on a life of it's own. This is one of them. And what a perfect example this is of "The Spirit of Vatican II" new and improved Catholicism that places the focus on me, I, us and all things worldly. (Emphasis mine)
I am Catholic and I am voting for Obama. I am looking at them both with a well rounded view of all they stand for. After eight years of nonsense I cannot take anymore. I am truely grateful for a church that doesn't tell me who to vote for. If I burn in hell for wanting health insurance for the first time in my life then so be it. Plus the idea of President Palin gives me the willies...
And it's REALLY obvious that the Teachings of the Church don't really pertain to her... not as long as you worship both yourself and adhere to the Platform of the Democratic Party. And I wonder where it was that she was taught that? At St. Bozo's at the corner of Che Street and Fidel Avenue?
This is what happens when a Catholicism commits slow suicide by ceasing from being a religion based on moral absolutes, and more of a philosophy based on feeling good about yourself.
Please know that the "Christine" noted wasn't the usual Christine who frequents The Lair.
Yep, just look at how many times she used the word "I".
ReplyDeleteThough I'm blessed at my parish to have the Carmelites and hear about Hell in the OF and know of several priests who talk about hell..i don't believe many are blessed to be in my position.
ReplyDeleteYour comments are spot on. This is the consequence when you separate SIN from the LOVE OF GOD, you get statements such as Christine's. To separate SIN from the LOVE OF GOD is to destroy everything.

ReplyDeleteWhile I know they are the exception more than the rule, I know of a few who actually do so, & regularly. But, like I said, they are more the exception.
She ought to read "The Four Last Things: Death, Judgment, Hell & Heaven" by Fr Martin von Cochem. She doesn't know what willies are until she starts to take eternity seriously.

I just keep remembering the gospel storey where the demon wouldn't leave for the apostles, and Jesus threw it out--then told the apostles that that type wouldn't leave except through prayer and fasting.
