He reminds me why I shouldn't
Here's some of the article from LifeSiteNews.com; (Emphasis mine)
McCain's support more qualified, expressed concern about violation of "ethical principles"
WASHINGTON, D.C., September 19, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In a Monday interview with Science Debate 2008, presidential nominees John McCain and Barack Obama reiterated their individual positions on the embryonic stem cell (ESC) research debate, with both candidates again stating that they support ESC research.
"While I support federal funding for embryonic stem cell research, I believe clear lines should be drawn that reflect a refusal to sacrifice moral values and ethical principles for the sake of scientific progress," said McCain.
"Moreover, I believe that recent scientific breakthroughs raise the hope that one day this debate will be rendered academic," he continued, citing other stem cell research that does not require the destruction of embryos.
And for those who've forgotten what the Five Non-Negotiables are --
1. Abortion
2. Euthanasia
3. Embryonic Stem Cell Research
4. Human Cloning
5. Homosexual “Marriage”
Draw what conclusions you may from my opinion, but I'll stand by what I've said in the past - much like the 10 Commandments, violating just one sends you to hell.
So, what is a person to do Caveman? Vote for a 3rd party/independent candidate who doesn't stand a chance in hell of winning? I don't think so; because to do so is for one to throw away his/her vote.
ReplyDeleteBob,
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind that the Constitutions guarentees us with the right to a secret vote. Nowhere does it say in the Constitution that we must vote for the lesser of two evils.
When I go into the voting booth and cast my ballot for whoever I see fit (regardless of who may view it as "thowing my vote away"), I've fulfilled my right.
As far as McCain is concerned supporting ESCR, Bob... he's in favor of murdering unborn children. There's simply no getting around it. If he renounces that stance, I'll vote for him. If he continues to support such, I'll vote for someone else.... or maybe not even vote at all, as is my right as an American per the Constitution.
As a Catholic, there's no way any of us could vote for someone who violates any or all of the Five Non-Negotiables.
Bob... he's in favor of murdering unborn children.
ReplyDeleteAnd cannibalism, for that's basically what ESCR is.
How can he voice support for federal funding for ESCR and then, in the exact same sentence, say he refuses to sacrifice moral values and ethical principles? The disconnect is just staggering.
*shrugs*
ReplyDeleteFr Dylan James of Salisbury UK gave an interesting talk about Embryonic stem cell Research at our local Weymouth parish in June. It's worth a read at

and click on the link on the home page and download a pdf file.
Fr James has a doctorate in bioethics at one of the Pontifical universities in Rome, so he knows what he is talking about. There is really no need for stem cell research. Adult stem cells have been shown to be far more efficacious in curing illnesses. The use of embryonic stem cells has not lead to new cures - quite the opposite.
The research in embryonic stem cells may be part of a hidden agenda - eventually to create clones as a source of spare parts, to be cannibalised as needed.
